I'm not disparaging Aliona's choreography, by the way. I'm just saying that previous choreography may not have any relevance as to whether or not a song is reused.”

A lot of people ask who is responsible for choosing the music on Strictly. Obviously a number of individuals have a voice — for example, Karen needs to feel comfortable that we can dance to the chosen track and Dave Arch’s musicians need to be able to play it. But the key person here is Matt Howes. It was Matt who chose the Elvis Costello song “She” for me to dance a waltz to. The song is not in waltz time (a number of worried viewers pointed this out to me before the dance!). Matt reconfigured the beat and even sang his own version so Karen had a tape to play me. For Matt the key is to choose a song that is popular, but perhaps not too obvious — sometimes he unearths a treasure like “Sweet Disposition” by Temper Trap which Anita and Gleb danced their astonishing tango to. Matt has a huge role in the show because the right song on the right night can be immensely powerful: and by the way I’ve enjoyed all mine so far.

This list is so random! But I'll keep my trap shut, after having cursed days on end when I found out Georgia was going to dance a Tango to Ghostbusters and that ended up being the dance of the night, I'll stay quiet this week (and wait for the horrors to unfold, mwahahaha)

No I had not. Thanks for posting that. I would like to see an earthy interpretation but there are some imaginative moves in that routine and the man does not look soft at all, in spite of Len saying otherwise! It's a great song. I hope it makes it to SCD one day.

Jeremy really ought to know that "She" is a Charles Aznavour song. Elvis covered it in the same tempo. And if Matt is so important (and I can see that he is) why hasn't he been on ITT.

Never Never Never is an exquisite song, I remember it being in the top 10 for weeks. I hope that Katie/Anton (and Dave Arch) do it justice.

Here's Gaynor Fair-weather and Donnie Burns giving it some wellie with their rumba!

Don't want to jinx it, but I honestly can't see either going before the Semis, let alone Blackpool!

Some goodies, some dodgies. Love Gleb and Anita's.

I mean in the sense of something where she can give it some character. Don't Cha by the Pussycat Dolls for her Cha Cha Cha is an example. It lets Jamelia bring out some personality. A Little Respect is a bit forgetful if I dare say and I'd imagine Kellie and Kevin suiting it more for their Samba.

Like others have said, Anita and Georgia's songs are great, Jeremy's sounds like another winner of a performance (and it's entirely about performance with him, It doesn't actually matter if the song doesn't quite match the dance!). I'm ever so glad that Katie has got a proper old-school rumba song - that should go a fair way to help them, but it's now all down to Anton's choreography. He'd do well to take note of that Gaynor Fairweather routine posted above. Take out the extended solo at the beginning(!), and nick some of the simpler sections and you've got a classic rumba.

Gotta say, I hate Kellie and Kevin's song, and fear for a horribly gimmicky performance to compensate for what I suspect they know was a boring (if accomplished) routine last week. However, it will probably be enough of a crowd pleaser to lift them out of danger (and the judges will be marking them to ensure no repeat bottom 2 for them). I suspect Jamelia and perhaps Helen will find themselves in danger, although Katie may be heading down to the bottom 2, even if she turns in a decent routine. I'm not sure any Anton latin will score enough to make them totally safe. Shame!

I know! I'm frightened to say too much as well lol. Needless to say I would love the above scenario though. I just worry for Anita if she ends up bottom two against anyone other than Jeremy or Jamelia.

georgia good music and expect good routine
Anita good music but quickstep unforgiving so going to have to improve her footwork
Katie music is ok not a fan of it would not call it a classic rumba (a great dem piece by Gaynor and Donnie though) getting leg action will be key
Kellie not a fan of this track hope it is arranged similar to the remix
Peter will be interesting to see this and Janette's routine - think this may be a dodgy one for him

Incredibly glad Katie hasn't been cursed with a Party Rumba a la Fiona Fullerton; not even I could bring myself to vote for that. If Anton creates a routine full of basic Rumba figures, with a few simple poses and dips, could help ameliorate Katie's nerves, and get them back on track.

Anita's got big shoes to fill, but it could be grand; she's got the energy. Georgia's likely to top the leaderboard, that song and dance suits her to a tee.

Eeeeeeek!!, some of those song choices are abysmal imo.

I think that Georgia & Giovanni and Katie & Anton have the best music for their respective dances.

For me, the song that Jay & Aliona have got is too slow for a foxtrot, unless Dave Arch increases the tempo.

I've thought for a while now that whoever chooses the music every week can't dance/ doesn't like dancing, or both.

I feel the tempo is fine for the Foxtrot, there are much slower ones around than this. Jay will be fine and it will nice to see him and Aliona accentuating the slows.
