Hi all.

I am hoping someone can help me out as it's really annoying me now. I have a Z3 on Three and for the last wee while I have found that when on a call and I take my phone away from my ear, the screen stays black and I cannot bring the screen back to life to bring up the keypad etc. Even when the caller hangs up it takes some doing to even get the home screen back by pressing the power button and volume buttons quite a bit until it springs back to life. I read somewhere that the smart key app could be the issue but I dont have this app installed. Now, after updating to 5.1.1 in the last 2 days, I have found that some calls disappear but come back after a little while with the other caller not being aware I was unable to hear them. I really don't want to do a factory reset, but is there anything else I can try? I have cleared cache etc from various apps, call logs etc but nothing appears to be working.

Do you have a screen protector on it that's covering the sensor on the front of the phone?

My Mrs had this issue with her new Z5 last week and it was the screen protector that came with the phone.
