I searched China November 11th in the Internet and found something really amazing. It’s a big sale day, just like Black Friday in America. Aliexpress has big discount on lots of phones, including ZTE S6, Cubot X15 and more. I have been thinking of buying a new android phone, now my chance is coming. I will grab a ZTE S6 then root it as I like lol. And I googled Cubot X15 and found it costed about ￡120 in the past. A good spot huh? Anyone has any experience with Cubot?

I've owned a Cubot GT-99 now for about 3 years, its been used as a phone and a permanent internet hotspot (I don't have ADSL) throughout this time. Its worked flawlessly, never overheated etc even when streaming media via the hotspot for hours at a time at the weekend.

Still on all its original factory parts, battery, glass etc, and for under £100 (at the time) it has been excellent value for money and its still in use today.

If I upgrade it, it will only be for 4G purposes as its still going strong. I've been thinking about the Cubot Zorro One to replace it with.

Just make sure the vendor from Aliexpress has decent feedback (For the actual product, not just account feedback)

It's not that cheap, Gearbest are selling it with dispatch from the EU (so no chance of being hit by customs duty/vat) for £93.

One other good thing about the X15 is that, according to the specification it looks like the Sim 2 slot also supports 3G as well as 2G - previously the majority of dual sim phones only seemed to support 2G from the second sim position.

OTG is good too, so you can plug in a USB drive. I may have to revise my Zorro one purchase and consider this instead.

Personally I would go with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 16Gb for not that much more.

It's too much for me, the size, the price and the function. I just wanna buy an average phone for texting, calling and web surfing. Are you sure about the battery? Just that I saw a review in German from a website that does a lot of these phones (http://www.chinahandys.net/cubot-x15/) that says it has a good battery time.

Edit: If you are looking for a phone at the kind of £50 price point then I noticed that the Outikel U2 (it has fairly good reviews but it's a step below the X15 in terms of market placement) one was £40 on here http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_225998.html that might be a better bet than the one on eBay.

You will ALWAYS get someone recommending that you spend "just a little bit more". The advice about avoiding eBay and going via GearBest is sound.

Hi,do you like the cubot? I have had the cubot x15 for a month now. I was sceptical about an unkown (to me) brand but I needed an upgrade on my battered iphone 4 so I took the plunge. I love it, massive screen, great handling and 4G on three network is great (my first experience of 4G). I put a 64gb micro sd card in and now I have a phone with more then double the capacity of my old one. Battery is perfectly fine and no different to my iphone4 on similar usage. This is my first android phone and would never go back to the grossly overpriced iphone.

The Vendor has a lot of sales for the phone and 100% feedback, so shouldn't be any issues.

I bought a Cubot X15 from Gearbest for £85. Received it yesterday, so far it seems very good apart from one very annoying thing, Sky Go will not work on it. According to the Sky Go app, the phone is rooted. I have spent ages online trying to find a solution, tried various apps which all say the phone is not rooted. There is something on the phone which makes Sky Go think it is rooted. Apparently this is common with phones and tablets made in China.
BT sport, Netflix, Sun goals all work, just Sky Go will not work.

Rooted - Unix related operating systems - including Android - have a special user - normally called 'root' - which can bypass all file protections and other restrictions.

Sky do not want you to bypass things like encryption and automatic deletion of programme content in their Apps. Their Apps check quite thoroughly to ensure that only an unmodified version of the OS is running and will refuse to run in other cases.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 I mentioned earlier in the thread as costing a bit more but being a better bet is now down to just £79 from Everbuying. Incredible bargain, especially taking into account the support/updates Xiaomi give their phones plus the plethora of cheap accessories available for it.

Plus an extra 10% off for registering for their newsletter so potentially £71.

I didn't have this problem with my Cubot GT-99 from the Factory, until I actually physically rooted it myself, after which, neither Sky Go nor Three in Touch would run.

Thank you. I did study a unix system about a quarter of a century ago at college, so I have heard of root user.
