Corrie: Kate Oates to "clamp down" on spoilers
Interesting article in The Mirror:
- Kate Oates will "ban mobiles on the set, detests photos of work scenes and location snaps posted on Twitter and is ready to SACK any cast member or production worker caught chatting about future storylines away from the studios." - The strict new set-up has been the talk of the set over the last couple of weeks after details began to filter down from the Corrie offices. - Kate "hates that loads of Corrie stuff is getting out before it’s on screen." http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/c...witter-6807166 Sure I heard phones are banned on set anyway? Either way roll on KO at Corrie. |

The biggest s/l blabber is Blackburn himself. Never misses an opportunity to get on (usually) daytime shows to fanfare the next "sensational" and ridiculous storyline. Glad to see the back of him. Come on Ms Oates, you brought ED back from the brink, do the same before Corrie sinks below the horizon for ever.

While I think this article has some truth to it as far as Kate Oates clamping down on spoilers, I highly doubt she will start firing cast members for posting stuff on social media. Like when Jack Shepard and Michelle Kegan posted the script that revealed Lily's paternity, I doubt she would have fired them for that as they are/were two of the show's biggest stars.

Excellent. I hope the other soaps do likewise.

Blackburn has ruined Corrie by blabbing every single little detail months in advance. This should at least bring order, and even if Oates' storylines turn out to be dull, she hasn't put herself in a situation where everything must be pre-judged and we can figure out how it would come to play. |

But she would've given them a dressing down as I'd imagine the press team did back then.

The Corrie YouTube account has posted a video of a scene from the episode coming up tonight? They only usually post old clips, and when they do post a scene from the latest episode they do it after it has aired.

Well, that's hardly surprising since Kate Oates relies heavily on shocking "twists" as part of her narrative style.
Having said that - she still didn't manage to keep the identity of who shot Robert Sugden under wraps until the episode aired

I disagree - to my mind they could release teasers to get people interested without giving away too much.

I agree. That's all that's needed.
Given the amount of spoilers available on many of the soaps, it's hardly worth watching the show at all! I tend to steer clear of many spoilers, but checked out the Soaps section yesterday (as people were having a grumble about it) and saw that much about Neighbours that I could give it a miss for a couple of months, and not miss a thing! |

Me too. There's a big difference between teasers and spoilers.

Hooray!
![]() I'm all for teasers and the weekly press office spoilers which I read beforehand most weeks but there is a difference between that and the releasing of every single detail of a SL weeks or months before it airs like we've had under Blackburn. |

Well I for one am glad if this is the case, I'm sick of SB releasing every last fart before it happens. I bet it killed him to keep it quiet that Calum died and ended up in Gail's manhole before the live episode! Quote:

Getting back to all your post though I think she has every right to fire someone if they're being careless enough (and self-absorbed enough) to post photos on social media without thinking of the consequences and what else could be given away in that picture (I'm talking about pictures taken on set though, not going about their everyday lives). All it would take it is for one to be fired to make the others sit up and take notice and put their mobile phones away! (I actually love the idea of KO making them give up their mobiles while they're at work lol!) Quote:

IIRC the actor who plays Jimmy King in ED posted on here saying that the soaps gave so much away because of the soap mags, well I for one could do without them lol! Quote:
Hopefully! Including some previously teflon-like cast members.

They ought to rein their own press department in. Did anyone give a shit about Tina's exit given it felt like every intricate detail was meted out in articles and spoilers months beforehand?
