It had to be done - the two highest scoring dances so far this season and the only ones to score a perfect "10" go head-to-head.

Who wins - you decide!

Jay. But I would also put Jay's paso, Katie's VW, Georgia's Samba, Georgia's tango and whatever dance Anita was doing to the Ghost music higher than Peter's charleston, and I thought Peter's charleston was very good.

Although I loved the Charleston, the Jive would be my choice. It was fantastic.

I prefer a Jive to a Charleston any day , so it's a dance specific choice not a dancer specific choice for me.

Loved several of these (BIBs - I'd also add in Katie's tango) but to qualify for this "title", the dance needed to score at least 37/40 and at least one judge had to have given it a "10".

Very hard to have the first without the second...

Peter's Charleston was the best dance of the night. Jay's jive could be the best dance of this (or many other) series.

And I put Jay. His jive is my favourite dance ever on the series. I was just making the point that I wouldn't agree with the judges on scores.

The Charleston was very good, but Jay's jive is something that is now a part of SCD history, all other jives on SCD will be compared to it.

no contest

Jay and Aliona's jive

Peters Charleston isn't anywhere near my favourite dance of the night let alone the series

I think the poll is very flawed

Favourite dance of the series so far is Jays Jive

Are you suggesting someone else's dance be any better than King Jays? The Jaliona fans will not be very happy!

IMO an exaggeration - nothing but nothing beats Tom Chambers Showdance.

For me Peter wins here for the following reasons:

Execution: I can fault neither celebrity on this. Both gave it their all and came up trumps. Jay wins for me here because, whilst they both totally sold their routines, Jay was technically more accomplished.

J&A - 10/10
P&J - 8./10

Originality of Routine: By no means the fault of J&A (as it fell on Movie Week), but theirs, whilst excellently danced, was more of an "impression" of an iconic movie scene . P&J's was amazingly original and contained a much more complex mix of steps and lifts.

J&A - 9/10
P&J - 10/10

Acting: Jay has often been criticised for his lack of acting skills but was not during this dance because his naturally laid back, dour approach suited this performance to a tee. More of a stretch was Peter's effort who had to really ramp it up - and did so in spades.

J&A - 7/10
P&J - 9/10

Answering the call: Jay had had little criticism up to the point of his jive so it came as little but a pleasant surprise - particularly the first "10" (though I would have been knocked sideways if anybody else took that honour ahead of him). However, Week 6 was probably Peter's worst during his time on Strictly and, as a result, he was challenged by almost all of the judges to come up with the goods and do something extraordinary. I think we can safely say he did so the very next week. Now that's a turnaround and a half.

J&A - 7/10
P&J - 10/10

TOTALS

J&A - 33/40
P&J - 37/40

If Peter did "answer the call" during his dance then that would explain some of the facial expressions I guess...

Peter's charleston isn't even the best charleston of the series, never mind come close to Jay's jive. Kellie's charleston is far better than Peter's, Kevin & Kellie were perfectly synchronised in comparison to Peter & Janette.

Jay's jive will be remembered as an iconic dance of any series, Peter's will be remembered for it's laughable 10s imo

I didn't find his open-mouthed attempt at characterisation attractive to watch

I did think Peter executed the lifts with great fluidity. However, as a complete package, Jay's jive is by far my favourite of the two dances.

I'm not a huge Jay fan, but Peter's Charleston isn't even close to that jive.

However, against any of Jay's other dances...I'd say Peter's Charleston would win for me.

It may also explain why he was out of sync too.
