Both dances were very good but one will be remembered as one of the best ever dances in Strictly history and that would be Jay & Aliona's jive. No dance will be as good as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m6MjsMXZ8I this year.

P.S Jay has to make the final just to do this dance again I will be gutted if we dont see this dance again.

Nothing original , nothing unique , just a copy cat routine padded out with moves from jays 6 years of dance training . He could have danced the macarena and still have got a 10 for throwing in the pulp fiction dance scene .Pfft .”

tbh aliona was a pretty good stand in for uma thurman, but whilst he may have danced well, jay didn't even begin to channel the louche, laid back, easy over style of john travolta... it was like watching uma dance with pudsey bear, or lennie. tell me about the rabbits george.

JT and UT didn't even do a jive in that scene And weren't they supposed to be stoned?”

Youtube has it at 912,123 views, not yet one million. I imagine then that the FB views are confined to the younger generation, which makes sense. Personally, I'd never heard of Wanted, but then they rarely play pop music on Radio 4

3.7 million views on the Strictly Facebook so far. I'm not sure it's all just the 'younger generation' on Facebook. Especially when you look at the profile pics of the people leaving (mostly positive) comments. It's a mixed bag. My mum and dad both have Facebook and they're in their 60's. My mum has watched Jays jive numerous times via f/b on her iPad.
The Wanted have had a couple of number 1's. I like them and they're on my iTunes.

"Naturally gifted dancer" yet he became a singer?? Makes sense....”

Doesn't the fact that Helen did the same course as Jay (only at a more prestigious school) but has yet to produce anything near the standard of his jive, suggest that the difference is natural talent rather than training?

Jay & Aliona's Jive by a country mile. One of the best ever dances on Strictly.
I've certainly added more than a few hits to it on Youtube, in comparison I've watched Peter & Janette's Charleston once, simply to see the timing issues a lot of people are correctly talking about.

Ahhh I loved Kara and most of her dances were sublime, but I still say that Jay's jive is the best ever dance on strictly for me.

Agree. You can have all the training in the world & become a mediocre dancer but if you don't have a natural talent, you're never going to be a fantastic dancer.

Yes, that performance will be talked about and referenced for years and years. A truly phenomenal dance.

I watched the Charleston once more (for research purposes) and also had to laugh when the judges were raving about it and dishing out 10's left, right and centre, Then you could see PA, in slow motion no less, in the background being out of time with Jeanette. Priceless!

There's simply no comparison!

Looks like Jay is slightly ahead of Peter in the poll.

It's the ovaries doing the voting

Not always. Often it is because we vote for our favourite dancer and the nicest person.

The only "heavyweight" thing about PA is his ego.

I don't mind my ovaries voting. They're very sensible. They clearly know a heck of a lot more about dance quality than a lot of other people's brains. It was a bit of a bugger teaching them to dial though.

Jay and Aliona of course!

Jay hasn't come close to repeating the breath-taking quality of that jive. I partly blame Aliona because after the moderate disaster of the following week, Aliona has given Jay less challenging, less content routines to perform.

I mean, if PA had given that performance to that jive, I would have reluctantly had to agree it was fantastic.

I have to agree with you. I think our ovaries know plenty about dance quality! Not to mention that sultry, sensual AT dance on Saturday, his footwork is awesome! I've watched that dance more than the jive now! Hot!!

I agree. See, I haven't seen anything of Jay the person. He's a closed book. His fans can rave all they like but I have to observe what I see and what I've NOT seen is any trace of passion, exerberance, pleasure in the dance.

He appears to be the product of a dance education and unlike some of the Sylvia whatsername's school of dance, he's also learned ballroom (thanks to everyone for the Youtube links).

That's a good point . He is too robotic for my taste and that petulant look is wearing thin . He needs a jolt to liven him up . Like you say, might be just the fact that he has been churned out on the old stage/dance school factory style conveyor belt .

Petulant? Childishly sulky and bad tempered? Jaypet?? Nah!

I love how you mention Jays stage/dance school pretty much all the time. It never fails to bring a to my face.
