And my mystery man, Gary, seems to become visible next week - good job I found out that he existed this week, or I would have looked a total donkey

That's why I work in a minimum wage job selling my soul to the devil
I did that for about 10 years, but I did enjoy the jobs, and got training too. Shop wages weren't good then, but one still got to know people all over the place, which was a bonus.

Re YF: Elle seems a really nice person and Mergim seems brilliant fun. Think we could well be seeing him on a Reality TV show in the future!

I'd say he was great to have around the house, he's a pure messer

Woah steady on with the generalisations

My 21 and 18 year olds are at university completing English and maths degrees, they want to be teachers. As children of a nurse they know what hard work is!

But not everyone can get to Uni or even afford to go there, so aren't always the lucky ones in getting well paid jobs.

Your kids have done well, and so has our friend's daughter who's at a top Uni and doing so well, and I'm so proud of her. She's worked so hard for years to get to where she is too, and only a young one Sometimes it's the luck of the draw

That's the way it is in this part of the world isn't it star? I despair sometimes at the young kids that leave school. I know that those that were taken on at our local Morrisons were all let go after their 3 month probation purely because they weren't prepared to work at it. Morrisons even paid for literacy lessons for some of them because they came out of school with no skills..
Perhaps I'm lucky to live where I do

Glad April went too, very standoffish and superior attitude

But if he wants to be a millionaire, then he's got to work at it, and messing around isn't going to get him anywhere near that sum, and don't think Reality TV will either.

You don't have to be all boring and serious to be a millionaire you know!

He's only 23 also, there's a very long future ahead of him potentially

Nice seeing a guy with a good sense of humour that doesn't take himself too serious

but he's not very bright, and you would hope that some intelligence is needed for success.

Anyone with almost any sort of A levels and in some cases meaningless qualifications, can go somewhere . There's also, somewhat surprisingly, no evidence at all that loans have put people off. The issue is what you study, where, and how well you do at it.

I don't like April but I can't put my finger on why
Hi Faye

I feel the same. I think it's because she's so controlled and contained I can't 'read' her face.

Indeed! I'm not saying he'll go on and set the world on fire or anything just he comes across as a fun guy in general, personality-wise

I don't know, or frankly care, how he ends up doing Business-wise!

Awww I loved Elle, but no complaints about that sacking. April going was a surprise and Mergims has been a walking firing from the start.

Of course one doesn't have to be boring and serious all the time, but it would help him to be some of that now and again, so that others he might want to impress won't think him being empty-headed. He did say something about wanting to learn, and hope he does. But in business one has to be serious about it, or not bother having one, if messing around is what you want. Some of what he said to LS didn't sound good, and hope he doesn't use that excuse again. But as you say he's only 23, and has a lot to learn, and before he gets to 25 he might have learned some.

I would hope intelligence and learning and hard work would bring success but 'bright' doesn't necessarily go along with that. Is Trump intelligent, bright or both?

Edit. Look at Sam. Clearly intelligent and knowledgeable within his field but hasn't a clue about decisión making because he wants to be nice to everyone. That isn't bright in business.

Mergim has been lucky that he scrapped under the radar avoiding the final boardroom until now, i knew he was going to get fired as soon as LS made him PM after Elle was fired.

Being bright and intelligent is the same thing. He could be bright without having a good education and get on well. Mergim is a hard worker, clearly. But I doubt he is going to make a million at it. His heart is in the right place and I'm sure he will succeed at what he does, but not as an entrepreneur. He's no handyman, he isn't the sharpest tool in the box, he doesn't seem particularly good at sales. It's hard to see where his talent is, other than being good company.

I don't think April was like that at all. Elegant, cool, and with a sharp mind. Just not that practical. She's clearly had success in life and is used to being treated with respect, but she was prepared to muck in too. I think she has worth keeping in for a little longer. More than Charliene anyway.

Yes, you've made me realise that bright and intelligent are hand-in-hand.

Oh f**** Starting to think about politicians now.

With a bit of luck Trump will never be a politician.

REALLY surprised Lord Sugar was really warmed to Mergim. And the Keep In Touch line was really interesting. I thought Mergim would be a joker in a BAD way but apparently he was pretty well liked?

Elle was a goner after 10 minutes she didn't have a clue, "you don't have to know the job to manage just make people think you know what you are doing" well that came back to bite her. I liked her though at least she was honest and was well aware of her limitations. Megrim is the type I wouldn't let anywhere near any job I wanted doing, a dodgy dealer, some people have said it was wrong for April to be fired as we haven't seen her since episode one, there lies the reason she stood back far too much, and £10 per hour for three she should have stood back again on this task. Joseph came to the fore and did really well, loved the Dick Dastardly comparison on YF.

Not that I'm accusing him of being fake, but I think it was important for Sugar not to be too harsh on Mergim. After he'd talked about how he and his family had arrived in the UK as refugees, to come down too hard of him would no doubt have led to some people accusing him of being anti-immigrant ...
