It takes two ...do celebs take notice
Twinkle toes no

Hello. In takes two with Zoe. Do you think the celebs take notice of their critique ? Do you think they take it on board? I like to think so as both Karen and Ian seem to give very good feedback .

I'd assume they would if they want high scores from the judges. But I'd hope the things Karen and Ian mention are stuff that the professional partners are already working on.

Anyone remember Aliona's saying during an interview with Harry that she doesn't listen to Len .

Len reminded her of that comment the following weekend during his critique and held that grudge for a long time .....the judges watch ITT . Well sometimes

Jay obviously does. ..last week he made a reference to Jo presenting on choreography corner.

If I were a celebrity taking part in the competition, I would watch Ian's Warm up and choreography corner. They give helpful tips.

Agreed. I mean Ian and Karen should be on par with the experience of the current pro's so each and every pro doing their training should be seeing what Ian and Karen see and so correct any niggles pointed out. I think those segments are more for the audience than the actual contestants.

I know Giovanni saw something Ian said about heel leads with their tango and rectified it accordingly, as he and Georgia were on the show later in the week and he said as much. With great effect based on what happened that week! Hope he bought Ian a drink

The difference is that the pros don't have the opportunity to watch and analyse the training footage the way Ian and Karen do, so it's entirely possible there are things the pros might overlook in the rush to teach their celebs a new dance in just a few days. Normally dance teachers teach their students how to dance over a period of time, whereas once the initial three week training period is over, the pros have to concentrate less on dance technique and more on teaching routines and making sure their celebs remember them. I don't think the pros deliberately ignore things but, under the circumstances, they simply might not notice every detail.

I expect that the Pro's will already be working on the areas that Ian has spotted. Certainly for Ballroom, it is not necessary for the Pro to look at their celeb dancing to see errors. They will be felt. For example, an experienced male Pro dancing in hold knows whether the topline is good, whether the lady is back weighted, off balance in pivots, usually they know whether heel leads are missed or not.
Where SCD is concerned, I always think its like glossing over / papering over the cracks. There is not enough time to teach everything, or anything 100% properly so they just need to learn the routine and get the standard as high as they can in the short time available. Doing this all in under a week is fantastic really

Last week one of the couples who weren't on It Take Two tweeted that they were doing what Ian had advised, I think it might have been Giovanni but can't be sure.

Peter said last week that Jos suggestion of lifting his arms using his under arm muscles instead of his shoulders was good advice. He was even trying it out and I think said he could feel the difference. He did quickly add though that Janette was always telling him about his shoulders.

Well if Ian's AT masterclass is anything to go by, it wouldn't do them any good at all to take notice.

It got her thrown off the show, despite winning that year. Thankfully, she returned.

Perhaps he ought to try listening to her occasionally then.

Wrong year - Aliona was (temporarily) let go after Series 10, not Series 9.

He was trying but Jos suggestion was perhaps a more useful one than just being told to keep his shoulders down. Jo explained a different/better way to do raise his arms without his shoulders rising.
