Do people like Bret?
It is this kind of guy - alpha male / unfriendly - that I would hate to work with...
Imo he is an arsehole |

I think he should've been fired in the first week, would hate to work with him.

I know he's the rugby loving, football hating, military man know it all that I despise. Coupled with his stupid accent I don't think I would get on with him. He was quite vociferous in the first task but in the tasks between then and tonights he's had a fairly low profile.

I wonder to whom - if anyone - he would have delegated the 'on your knees gum scraping' job if there had not been a woman around to delegate it to.

He wanted to seem uber macho tonight, posturing his way around the football ground ordering his two minions about. I can't believe I am about to side with Selina but surely it made sense to scrape the gum up first before doing the pressure washing because as soon as the water hits the gum it will make it wet and harder to clean?
And the first thing they should have done was paint the lines then go about cleaning, giving time for the paint to dry before finishing off with the pressure wash. |

Too persnickety, which may be useful in some jobs, but not most.

I think he did well this week. He's now on my radar as a contender.

I thought he did pretty well. I don't particularly like him, but there are far worse still in the process.

Don't like him, he's far too rigid in his approach and thinking . Of course he did well in this task, it's what he's used too . The same for Joseph in the other team .
Give himself and Joseph other tasks and they don't have a clue . |

Irritating as hell although it seems he'd be a good choice if you needed a tradesman,

I'm not his biggest fan, but I can see him getting to the interview stage at the very least.

And the first thing they should have done was paint the lines then go about cleaning, giving time for the paint to dry before finishing off with the pressure wash. Brett is good at following orders. Exactly. To the letter. It's all about making sure his arse is fireproof. A very military attitude. It doesn't matter if you are doing the wrong thing as long as you are doing what you were told to do and can prove it in triplicate. When it came to deciding what his team should do he became obsessed with doing a perfect job, ignoring what the job actually required. Line painting was essential, chewing gum cleaning was not. |

He looked gorgeous shirtless as shown in that reward but man he would be a tough thing to be with. Way too rigid.

Brett is obsessed with delivering the details (or "specifications" as he kept banging on about in week 1) and yet he failed to clarify the brief from the guy at the football ground. That's a basic error from someone who works in the building trade. Whenever I've had builders or decorators around they work out every minute detail before giving you a quote - are they going to paint the ceilings? What type of paint are they going to use? Who's responsible for disposing of what? - so that there is no confusion on either side and the job is delivered exactly to (as Brett himself would put it) specification.
The chewing gum assumption cost his team a lot of time and a bit of money, but also ate up time that could have been spent earning money elsewhere. It was actually a pretty big error on Brett's part - but one he got away with as Elle's team were simply catastrophic. I don't like his attitude generally - as others have said, his military background often plays to his disadvantage (although it has clearly instilled disciplines in him that are useful). He's very rigid, doesn't strike me as creative or flexible and has a nasty, bossy, demeaning attitude - you can't just order people around in business the way he does, even if you're the one in charge. I also haven't forgotten his sexist comment on the opening task about how women would be poor on the task because they wouldn't like stinky fish. I think he may well reach the interview round - there are still several candidates who deserve to go before him, for sure - but a winner? I don't see it at all. |

I like him..he is a typical military man. He wants to do a job properly. I have to admit I would have assumed that cleaning up the stands would have meant scraping up the chewing gum. Why would you clean the place and leave that? That's not doing a proper job and I agree with him about that. They should have organised it a lot better so they could have completed it
