Obviously Elle. April was a surprise, I would have fired David for the supposed reasons April was fired.

I actually agreed with Lord Sugar's decision tonight!
Elle HAD to go and even she knew it. Tonight proved once and for all that she was totally out of her depth and not ready to run her own business. She needs to have someone hand holding her all the time, in this case Joseph, and she doesn't seem to be strong enough to make decisions on her own. April messed up big time with the pricing on the first day and over the last few weeks she has most definitely taken a back seat in proceedings. From the first week I thought she was going to be a pretty fiesty character, ready to make big decisions and stick with them but she's just sort of fizzled out as the weeks have gone on. Mergim, bless him. Nice enough guy and he clearly has the passion and drive to succeed, he's just like Elle though, out of his depth and not quite ready to be his own boss. I do hope he makes something of himself though. |

Elle and Mergim were both utterly disastrous. I would have fired them both.
David, April and Charlene weren't very impressive, but they weren't quite bad enough to warrant being fired either. I guess the problem for April was that she hadn't really redeemed herself after being saved in Week 1. If this was her first time in the boardroom I think she would have been safe. |

Charleine seemed to get stuck in with regards to the work but didn't really do much in terms of negotiating, the one thing she did negotiate a price on was the last place they went to paint and she charged them 100 quid over the phone based on the specifications the shop keeper told her, she was clearly swindled and should not have given a quote over the phone without seeing the place first imo. |

Wouldn't have fired April solely on this task, but it's been coming
Elle and Mergim had to go and David deserved another chance, he has been a strong candidate until this week |

I would have sacked all and started again, not one single candidate impresses me and I would not want to partner any in a business venture.

April has sort of taken a back seat since the first boardroom, that's what did for her in the end. And when she did finally make a decision it was the wrong one by charging a tenner for the window cleaning, that being said as sub team leader I think Mergim should have realised she was charging wayyy too low a price and immediately corrected her.

I largely agree, although I do appreciate the fact that April actually made the suggestion of doing DIY to supplement their earnings, even though she charged too little. Ultimately, that is income that they would not have earned otherwise. Plus, as you mentioned, the other two members of her subteam seemed to think the price was reasonable too. I don't think it was an offence worthy of being fired in itself, but it seemed that Lord Sugar's decision was mostly based on her taking a backseat over several tasks, and I can't really fault that judgement.

I don't get the problem with April's pricing. Labour cost wasn't charged against the revenue made, so although £10 an hour for three people was ludicrous it was still £10 an hour profit. So Karren's comment that they couldn't break even on it was meaningless.
I don't think April deserved to be fired. She's clearly a very good businesswoman. Mergim and especially Elle had to go on tonights performance. |

Lord Sugar nailed it tonight. Elle was utterly useless and was very much second fiddle to Joseph, the fact that she was constantly asking him what to do just showed that she wasn't fit to lead the team, IMO Joseph was very much the one "in charge" despite who may have had the title of PM.
As for Mergim, from the second he had a go at his fellow teammates in the boardroom for not stepping up to be project manager on Task 1 even though he himself didn't volunteer, you just knew this guy was going out in a car crash of epic proportions, and my god did he deliver. I must admit, I actually felt for the guy; you could tell he was far from the sharpest tool in the shed but there was something about him that was actually... endearing? Sure he was a bit of your standard "cheeky chappy" but he seems like a good bloke who was just determined to prove himself, the fact that everything that could have gone wrong for him did go wrong was just too funny though. Finally, April. I've seen various "Favourite Candidate" polls where April consistently gets a decent amount of votes and I never understood why, she was an utterly abysmal project manager in Task 1 and should have been fired then, but her team saved her. Then again on Task 2, she cast the young models for the ad aimed at the more "elderly" consumer. I feel like she made a lot of utterly stupid mistakes that should have seen her leave. That having been said, she wasn't necessarily bad on this task, but I do feel she's just kind of.... there. So I don't blame LS for getting rid of her, now he just has to get rid of Sam and Gary and we'll have no more "Sorry, who?" candidates. |

I was really surprised April got fired as well. Selina did just as bad at the Pet Show or Elle at the Channel task and they both got away at that moment.

I agree with the decision he made; it takes the number down from 13 to 10 and eliminates 3 people who were never going to win. Elle gave up from start of task and then in boardroom basically asked to be fired. I don't think I've ever seen a PM that shirked responsibility so much; she didn't want to pitch, negotiate, assist in pricing, do any manual work; it was really bad. In reference to Mergim and April, it was the same problem were they did jobs that were priced very low. It did show a basic lack of business understanding in my opinion. If you think about the gardening team of Vana, Scott and Gary, their rate of £25 an hour for the job pulled in a lot of revenue and is probably largely acceptable in areas of London. April and Mergim had both stood out for bad performances in week one and then they were in the background on most of other tasks.

It's almost like she just totally gave up and resigned herself to the fact that she was going home. To be honest, I think the process opened her eyes a bit and made her realise she is not ready to run her own business yet. |
