This could be a long shot but Charles Pattinson owns Company Pictures which produces successful new Irish soap Red Rock which is set in a coastal town too. Maybe they're adapting the idea for British TV?

I'm hoping channel 5 find some up and coming talented staff rather than get former corrie and other soap staff.

Interesting I might give this one a go, it's good to catch them in the beginning, that's why Eastenders is the only one I still watch, gave up the rest years ago.
Charles Pattinson definitely has an interesting resume, this has the potential to be a cracker, I just hope that if it isn't an instant success (In channel 5 terms that's not setting the bar very high) that they don't drop it with a brisk stroke of a pen. Many British T.V series weren't instant successes but matured nicely Fawlty Towers and Blackadder being classic examples, perseverance and strong writing with interesting stories is what's needed, not instant sensationalism, car crashes, train crashes, helicopters falling out of sky, good characterisation and interesting people with a story to tell is far more important imo. |
