It's edited television for entertainment purposes the shots are more than likely filmed out of sequence or even separately.

I have the answer from an insider. The contestants get 20 mins each (approx). Add it all up and thats when they have to go out. Usually around 07:45 to 08:30. So from 5 am phone call to 8 am is a long time.

It can't work unless they have a bathroom each, and even then that's pushing it. 20 mins each makes logical sense, 20 mins each in the bathroom probably!
It always amazes me that a couple of them are taking the time to iron their shirt at the last minute. |

It always amazes me that a couple of them are taking the time to iron their shirt at the last minute. Few years ago they even edited in a shot of a few contestants having a chat in the living room. It was so out of date that in the background a contestants voice was heard, who had actually been fired. As she was not in the shot, they used it as a filler and no one noticed. ![]()

The show is doing it's best I suppose to simulate the daily conundrum of Shit I Got To GEt Out of Bed Work in 20 Mins for B-persons. 5000 years of human civilization and we never quite figured out this still.

One of the contestants said in an interview a few years ago that production rolls up over an hour or so before the call, and they're not particularly quiet, so they have a pretty large pre-warning.

When do candidates eat? Perhaps we are looking in the wrong place for the show's deception and it is meal breaks that are hidden from us.
Suppose the real start of each task is: 1) 20- or 30-minute warning 2) Rushed off to briefing about Dr Johnson's cat 3) Have breakfast for an hour 4) Start task Suppose it is step 3 that is hidden, and during which candidates can shower and shave and so on, as well as eat. (It would also mean that Lord Sugar can film his bit in the early morning without sacrificing a regular work day.) |

The dramatic up-dos of the girls' hair, plus their extensive makeup is 100% proof that they have more than 20 minutes to get ready.

1) cars arrive after 20 minutes but do not leave for an hour -- they just wait outside 2) candidates set their alarms to get up early 3) candidates are woken by the crew long before the phone call 4) there is a hidden break after the briefing Or it is a lie and the cars take longer than 20 minutes to arrive. This is what Romesh should investigate on You're Fired. |

It was said on hear a few years ago that it takes two hours in the morning for them all to get ready. This is between everyone getting ready and the producers putting on all the microphones, doing checks and then filming them getting into the cars. As the candidates leaves, this time reduces. The cars might arrive in 20 minutes but that doesn't mean the candidates are getting into them. It makes sense as sometimes they are woken at 5.30 in the morning.
What I can't understand is people ironing their shirts when they get up (another clue they have more than 20 minutes ). If it was me, I'd rather have everything ready the night before as I'm sure they are exhausted by the early morning calls and the last thing I would want to do is decide what I have to wear and then iron it.

If anyone recorded the episode, is it possible to tell the time on Lord Sugar's watch during the briefing at the Museum of Childhood?
