Aah, thank you. Aljaz does not seem to insist on body contact with his celebs in ballroom hold so I worried that this was going to be their hold ...

Ballet helps with posture and movement, so less of the sarcasm please Sherlock.

I thought Aljaz was quite mincey in one portion of that training footage. But anyway this is about the celebs... It's like Anita doesn't generally have confidence in her movement though she gets through the steps - Jamelia doesn't have confidence either and it sinks her - and Helen doesn't have confidence but is so graceful with the ballet/musical theatre background that she manages to look pretty good despite the lack. (and the judges overmark and prop her imo)

Kellie is over-confident and it's too in-your-face stage-school prodigy and off-putting. And she doesn't take criticism or lower marks well, when most everybody else has had their share of undermarking, at times. Katie too seems over-confident though she doesn't have the talent to justify it - I think 'she' thinks she's doing a fabulous job, with only an occasional little slip that everyone should ignore. Kirsty was like that too.

And I've just thrown my hands up with the boys. I guess I can see that Jay has talent but it's like he's so scared he can't commit to his dances and it draws my attention away from the dancing and I can only think about his reticence. Peter is such a needy desperate little bugger that I can't appreciate when his dancing is ok - another one that I'm drawn out of the dance every time.

I guess Georgia is the only one that I'd say has close to the right balance of confidence and skill behind it. And she looks like a million dollars and Giovanni is HOT (though I've gone off Gleb after loving him in the US)

How can Georgia wear those Converse type trainers to practise when she's learning to swivel in that charleston routine? Those flaming things stick to the floor all the time & the squeaking would drive me nuts. Anita is the same, but at least she has QS, so not much swivelling going on.

Jamelia...bless her...I hope that was early footage

Well of course, we are only "judging" from the few seconds of the clip shown, hopefully by the weekend ( not sure when this was taken) this will be OK. The other important thing to remember is that she is a non dancer, and will need to learn the steps first, before any technique is applied so I expect this is stage where its at. The section where they are kicking legs forward in PP. This is dance talk for Promenade Position where both man and lady are facing the same way, to dance forward in the same direction ....
she needs far more toning in her legs - they look a bit wild - and the feet need to be pointed. Posture, frame etc need attention here, but having said that, she is learning the steps at the moment. The body should not move about in the frame.

I

I am sure they will dance in full hold - which is a slightly different hold from the other ballroom dances - once she has learned the steps. No idea as to when this clip was taken but I suspect that she was/is just at this stage. Once she knows what she is doing, they will dance in hold, lot for her to think about, with the steps, frame/hold, keeping to Aljaz right side, keeping in her knees, footwork, poise and posture etc. Not to mention trying to keep body contact which is more difficult that most think. You must allow your weight to move forward to your partner, even though - as lady - you are dancing backwards. Through the use of soft legs and knees, allow the weight to roll forward, the man will be doing the same with backs held up and forward towards partner.

I noticed this too, and was more concerned in case of injury. I damaged one of my knees doing something like this before, when I was daft enough to wear trainers....never again

Has georgia not got a slight injury already though ? I could swear I heard it mentioned on itt or I read it . Or I might have dreamed it . I thought zoe said that georgia was wearing a certain shoe type to ease an injury . I hope she is ok for tonight .

Really have only heard about Jays knee and Giovannis shoulder.

Hope she's not carrying an injury.

She said on ITT both her legs were 'broken' but I think she was exaggerating

Bless her humour . I was worried for gg at first because gio seemed a bit offish with georgia , but it was clearly just that initial reticence we get with new people and now they are hilarious together and I really like them both . She could nick the glitterball easily .
