Wasn't it one year last time I heard lol I bet it ends up being about five years and when they return it will be for a greatest hits album and tour with Zayn. |

Well, it was obvious. Surely Harry (at the very least) is going to try a solo career, and pop generally works on roughly two year album cycles from the start of writing to the end of a tour. If any of them have any real success they'll be gone for 5+ years. Even if not the band has been *so* successful they won't need to come back any time soon.
They've done a nice job gradually adjusting their fans' expectations about the whole thing. As manufactured boybands go, they've been one of the better ones. |

They need it though, they've been touring relentlessly for years, they must be exhausted, it's one of the main reasons I think Zayn chose to leave.

I doubt they will get back together. Harvey Weinstein has said he wants to sign Harry up so if it happens and it takes off Harry will all set to be a Hollywood actor.

I don't really get why this is considered "news"... After their decision not to tour this album, they would have had a year off anyway (until the promo for the next albums is about to start next autumn). So having 2 years off means - in my opinion - having one year really off and then deciding what they're going to do next. If they decide to come back, it will take them another year writing, recording and promoting the album. In that case, a November 2017 release would look like a 2 year break, when in reality it wasn't...

Give Styles credit, though. He's worked VERY hard. He got the lucky break of all time when Cowell took 5 X-Factor losers and decided to make them into a band. (Actually, I think it was an ego trip on Cowell's part. If I can make this lot stars, I can do anything.) Styles and the rest of 1-D did everything Syco told them. Worked almost non-stop, stayed away from drugs, at least publicly, didn't get into sexual scandals, but went into PR romances for media notice. They were the perfect examples of how to behave if Cowell anoints you. Now they're getting a vacation which may turn out to be permanent, because there will always be other boy bands, younger, cuter to enchant the the next generation of teen age girls. As to Styles, himself, I think he is much more likely to go into the business side of entertainment. |

They will either go ways. Do what N Sync did and never ever come back. Or do what Girls Aloud did and return for their 10th anniversary with a GH and a tour, followed by an official breakup.
I am not surprised they are so exhausted. The labels demand an album and a tour every single year. All they do all year is record an album, promote and then tour. They have done the same cycle for 4/5 years. It's not healthy for any human being to do that constantly. But labels look at people like 1D like puppets in a factory. |

Few pop stars/bands seem to fade away between 5-10 years. So unless 1D a Take That in 10 years, that's their 5 years up.

I'll be shocked if they come back after 2 years.
