Week 11 is Stage & Screen Night

Quote:
“It's time to face the music and dance, as the curtain is raised on a spectacular themed week and Strictly goes to the musicals. The six remaining couples step out once more to perform a host of all-singing and all-dancing routines from the stage and screen.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman welcome the celebrities back to the floor as they bid for a spot in the competition as the final draws near.

As ever, judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli have their scoring paddles at the ready to critique each couple. The voting lines will then open and it is down to the public to save their favourite couple from the feared dance-off.”

Oh Lord...I don't mind theme weeks, I actually like them, but to have one so close to the final seems unfair since it's very unlikely the pros will have freedom in choosing songs and choreography. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but it seems they will want to flush out whoever they think it'll be the weakest link at that point. Don't like it.

...so another Movie Week then?

For a "Stage & Screen" week, Katie & Anton have an incredible selection of dances left... assuming the Samba is their skipped dance. I'm imagining a literal Fred & Ginge American Smooth.

Maybe TPTB planned it that way?

We just had a movie week with musicals shoehorned in.... So this will be a musicals week with movies flung in the mix. Oh the orginality

Have they done a musicals theme night in previous series? I'm getting mixed up with movie night. Anyone remember which musicals they did, just to get a sense of how it might work? Fair play to all this lot, it's very tough to call who will be the last six, let alone in the final.

They did a Broadway Week in series nine (i.e. Jason Donovan's Priscilla Tango) and Musicals Week in series eleven, although the latter involved such well-known musicals as Saturday Night Fever and Aladdin so... yeah, it's been done once before.

Still, I'd much rather they did something vaguely related to dance like this rather than another *shudder* Around the World Week.

Movie Week 2 - Electric Boogaloo.

If they are using musicals instead of just any old movie then that has to be a half step forward.

Absolutely. Anything other than Around the World with "the world" having some very odd interpretations.

I must admit I like the sound of "Stage and Screen Night". I will, however, keep my expectations at a modest level and hope to be pleasantly surprised

Just another opportunity for Movies Night. Unless you are are Joanne, in which case it is Disney Musical night....

Not another bloomin' themed week.
I loathe them intensely.

If Katie and Antony are still there by then it'll be the 3rd time they'll dance to a song from a musical.

Good point - there could be another 'Zorba the Greek' coming on....

What was the week last year when Frankie danced to Defying Gravity, complete with green makeup. I enjoyed that one.

Was it their Halloween dance maybe?
