Big Brother House adverts

Remember during BB's peak on C4 when they used to air the house adverts and it really felt like an 'event' was coming as the launch got closer? I always liked how they used to distort the theme music and make it sound strange.

C4 advertises Black Friday before most of us knew what Black Friday was:

I didn't feel like an event; it WAS an event. With live feed the show literally took over. From the eye teasers to the house promos followed by the countdown ads (which would air right up until the launch) it really was the beginning of something big and special. Unfortunately, without live feed (yes, I will blame the lack of feed), the show is no longer an event; it won't ever be again until live feed returns. I really would like C5 to air a full live feed for just one year, just to see what effect it has on the show.

I would say it felt like an event in the pre BB10 era, not BB8. The build up to BB8 was huge with countdowns and everything.

For BB8 they had some of the most adverts and spin off shows, also BB8 was the last series with Dermott hosting BBLB, so for me, BB8 felt like the last true Big Brother series.

The build up to BB8 was huge but once it started and you saw how disastrous it was well.... BB7 was the last great BB, ever since it has been a shadow of its former self

The adverts for BB9 and 8 were great but both series were after CBB5 from which the show never recovered. I agree with Barracute that the show was a shadow of its former self after BB7. Even the producers admitted that was the case too.

BB4's house ads included the countdown with them. You could only see very small and brief parts of the house, which were different each time, before the actual countdown. The way they were done was really exciting and effective, and the haunting, whispering voice added to this:

I really enjoyed BB8, I know a lot of people here hated it. It's all subjective, really. That's kind of the beauty of Big Brother; each series is different and one's opinion on one series may greatly differ to someone else's.

That said, wasn't there no spinoff show such as Davina's On the Couch for BB9 onwards? (I may be wrong). And with the absence of Dermott for BBLB, it meant there just wasn't that same fun buzz to be had every 6pm weekday on E4 during the summer. Instead for BB9 onwards we got George Lamb who was overly cynical and acted like he didn't want to be there.

They were so exciting. I remember just watching channel 4 for the sole purpose of catching a glimpse of them.
