This isn't the first time the tabloids have carried tales of Ola quitting Strictly.

They also do extremely well from the fact that they don't pay the majority of their contributors either, citing 'exposure' as sufficient recompense. I wish people wouldn't fall for their clickbait, then they'd be forced to stop this shabby practice.

It's in the DM now too.

She says it is out of loyalty to James, however she has done two seasons since and a new contract each time, so it isn't clearly, she could have not took last years offer if she were that offended.

This is all for the headlines.

It seems she is not there at tonight's show either as James has tweeted he will watch SCD with Ola tonight. Surely this will be a breach of her contract though?

If I was a betting woman that's where my bawbees would be going

In her defence, her husband was forced out and I don't suppose the producers are very nice to her. She also says SCD dancers aren't paid a huge amount despite being trained dancers. I think (not sure) the professional dancers are paid less than the celebs. She has to make a living and cant turn down offers. Also she is 33 and we don't know if she wants to start a family. So who are we to judge on the reasons why she wants to quit. I wish good luck and hope she does well.

What makes you think that?

I'm also not sure what leads you to believe that James was 'forced out'.
As they're only contracted on a per series basis all that needed to be done was to decline to offer him a new contract. No 'forcing' required.

Please read my post carefully. I am only saying what a lot of people are saying. This is not a battle of what I think or what you thing. I am also reading in between the lines when James Jordan is making comments. No I don't know any more than you do.. It rather sad that your post comes across as someone wanting pick an argument.

Eh? I asked you what made you think that the producers weren't very nice to Ola and that James had been forced out.

This is a discussion forum. A series of individual opinions is not a discussion, it's people talking to themselves in the same room. I am curious what lead you to take those views as I have seen no evidence of either of those things happening, and so I asked you a question about it.

You don't have to engage with me, or anyone else on the forum, if you have no wish to do so, but there's no need to be so defensive or accusatory.

Nor do you. But I thought your post was aggressive. Almost like 'What makes you think that?' You could have said 'Do you think so, why'.

As a license payer, I will be incandescent if she gets her full fee.
She had nothing to add to the programme anyway and I can't help but feel 'good riddance'.

If she's walked out mid-series without being able to prove a viable reason for doing so I guess she'd be in breach of contract and the BBC would be able to retain part of her fee. Though at this stage I guess there's a fair bit of media guesswork going on.

I used to really like Ola in the early days, can't say I am sad to see her leave now though.

And they don't even admit that they are almost certainly just quoting The Sun.

It's possible the contract has an option to leave once the partner is eliminated, they do have a spare with Joanne but I would still like to see the claim from a reliable source and not just from The Sun.

She's been there the last few weeks as a pro but apparently wasn't tonight:

Well she was watching the show from home, so she isn't there.

I was under the impression that they were contracted for the duration of the series, such that after their celeb was eliminated they were required to attend the saturday shows, perform in the pro dance/guest singer spots, do the final show with their celeb, appear on ITT as and when required, etc.

Perhaps they've changed it - it always struck me as fundamentally unfair that the pro who goes out first still got the same fee as the pros who were in till the final and had to put in considerably more work per week - prorata-ed as an hourly rate, the first pro out is coining it in while the finalists are on minimum wage (OK, not quite - but much less than the early evictees).

The Jordans seem to have been deprived of the oxygen of publicity of late. This carefully timed revelation couldn't possibly have been scheduled to garner some timely media coverage and shift a few more calendars in time for Christmas, could it?

It isn't really unfair when you think about it. When being contracted to the show the pro's have to commit their time for the entire duration of the series, they have no way of knowing who they will be partnered with or how long they will last. In giving this commitment they are denying themselves the opportunity to enter into any other commitment for the entire duration of the show and, therefore, they need to be remunerated for the entire duration of the show.

I'm sure the pros who's celeb gets booted out early earn less than the ones who make it to the final....
