Bookies have Max clear favourite to go this week, will be very interesting to see if his performance tonight will be good enough to keep him in the show.

Paddy power have him at 6/4 closely followed by Mason at 2/1.

Will be interested how the odds change during the show.

That performance was awful and I like Max. He could be going tomorrow.

Didn't know the song but I thought it was a dirge that went nowhere. I liked Max before lives but think he's lost what made him different and he's just a bore now

I wanted to like it, but found it boring.

Not surprised he keeps getting boring songs if Simon wasn't his mentor he'd be criticising him he just doesn't really care about his acts this year hes barely in their VTs

OMG - watching on Sky-plus and 'Max' just murdered one of Springsteen's top three songs. What the **** are the judges hearing in the studio that we don't hear at home? Everyone connected with this abomination should be hung, drawn and quartered...

I don't know the song or the movie, and didn't like it or this performance.

I don't think he'll go home. He's the type of act that voters will always forgive.

I don't think the judges will keep him in if he ends up in the bottom two!

A karaoke version of a Springsteen song is an insult to music. This programme is on par with The Jeremy Kyle Show, it's aimed at the brain dead.

Looks like a lot of money going on Max to be eliminated as the odds are shortening as the show goes on, currently at 13/10!

I personally think Max has been very fortunate to have lasted this long. I just don't see anything remotely special about him, and tonight was by far his worst vocal performance.

Maybe that falsetto from last weeks' Coldplay performance is still haunting him.

For the sake of this series producing a bonafide artist with longevity, Max has to go because he would flop bigger than Leon if he actually defied all the odds and won X Factor.

It will be Max v Monica i think, with Anton just above them in the bottom three.

You think mason has done enough to stay out of the bottom two?

Cheryl was right about him tonight. She was diplomatic ! He really is boring. I would hate him to win .

Agreed, although that's how I feel about Che as well, and sadly, I think he will win.

I close my eyes when Max sings, because he's uncomfortable to watch (the way he hunches & strains over the mike). That way I only hear his voice, so I'm not disappointed.

Vocally, he was great. There were worse acts more deserving of an exit (Mason, Reggie & Bollie).

Hope you are right as I have a tenner on Che to win, got him at 4/1 so hopefully a nice £40 win!

Adds to the excitement each week when you have a punt on these types of shows!

Too close to call between Max and Mason so looks like they're both goners

If Che does win, I suspect I'll be referring to him the same way I'm referring to Ben Haenow right now.

Don't see anything special about Che. He could be brilliant but he has a major issue with over singing everything and sometimes it sounds like a mess on TV.

The thing is the acoustics in the studio where they film X Factor are so different to a bog standard TV. Because the voice echoes throughout the studio, it tends to mask bum notes whereas on TV, all bum notes are much more obvious.

Like with Ché's appearance they are trying to polish turds. Ché is ugly and Max is dweeby.

Max seems like a nice guy but he doesn't belong on the X Factor either musically or as a personality. No sob story (unless I missed it), no freak show element, no apparent desperate "need" to win, no showstopping surprises ("I don't think you realise just how talented you are").

Musically he'd be more at home busking (that's not meant as an insult) or at an open mic night in a pub, he doesn't fit that X Factor world where every bum note is perceived as some kind of crime.
