I like Che. I think he has an incredible talent. His voice is very soulful and deserves to go far. I was gutted when Paul Akistar left the competition so early last year and I'd feel the same if Che did too. Of the boys left, he is the only one that stands out.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was. Not in the top 5 of the voting leak, pretty low down on Youtube views and Facebook likes, not been on early yet etc

I agree, I really like Che.

He is a similar sort of act to Paul from last year which makes the praise he is getting a bit of a surprise as Paul got absolutely battered by Cowell for no real reason.

I honestly have no faves this year.. Just vote on who preforms the best on Sat night.
So I wouldn't really mind this! I found him quite boring yesterday if I'm honest. But then again Facebook likes/ YouTube videos aren't actually an accurate indication of who's going to be in danger.

I thought last night's performance was the most boring thing I've ever seen him do. He IS a class singer, but they can easily ruin him by making him sing rubbish songs and dressing him like an idiot (IMO that leather jacket did him no favours).

What he is missing that, say, Jahmene had is that 'aw cute' factor which propelled Jahmene to the final. Che doesn't have that or the personality to get him up there in the voting, despite his vocals.

Ella Henderson - brilliant voice, dull as dishwater, therefore didn't get near the final. The only ever exception to that rule was Leona, and that was because having a talent such as Leona's one one of these shows was such a novelty, and they bigged her up so much, that it was simply a given that she would win.

Ché is probably one of the best male vocalists the show has ever seen. He might be 'dull' to some and the fact they're not letting him out of the 60s soul throwback box could legitimately count against him, but it would be ridiculous if he doesn't end up in the final and the top male in the competition.

I agree. I would love to hear Che sing some modern soul but TPTB probably don't think any soul music has been released since 1980 or else their idea of soul is Sam Smith.

The problem is with this show is that they fit each act into a little box and strip them of any character and individuality they might have had by making them all a stereotype

Max will beat him easily, I'm afraid... Max will appeal to the older audience.

I doubt it. Max will be in the bottom three tonight, mark my words.

I disagree. I think Max is a goner tonight. I don't think he's managed to grab the housewife vote this year

Yep. I'll be shocked if him and Mason are not 2 out of the bottom 3 tonight

I also loved Paul last year, was gutted how he was treated by the show, but in my opinion Che is miles ahead of Paul, and that's why he is being pushed by judges/producers!

I hope he goes far because seriously Che has one of the best male voices i have heard in years, for me he's better than Sam Smith

I'm surprised Che didn't hit bottom 3 last week.

Seann was the shock exit for me, so anyone going now won't be a surprise.

I wouldn't say he is unlikeable, but I feel absolutely nothing when I watch him. Bland. No edge whatsoever. He overdoes the vocal runs to the point where I don't enjoy listening to him either.

He comes across as pretty smug to me.

He knows he doesn't have the looks so believes that the stuff he is singing will appeal to the voters without question

I agree ...he can sing no doubt ...but personality of a wet tea towel.

Everything he says to Caroline etc sounds very scripted.

He could end up suffering same fate as jahmene and Andreas

Voice alone not enough

I'm just watching the show back from taping it yesterday.

It was OK till he did the 'big finale' - all the quavery singing at the end. They kind of run up and down the scale to impress.

What was all that stuff that Simon was on about - from now on he'll have no trouble getting women

Indeed.

It was getting close to a 8/10 performance for me, but then he did the last bit and it quickly slumped to a 7/10. The last bit completely ruined the performance and that's what disappoints me the most. Like last week it was the first part that sounded dodgy, then the last bit was stronger.

If Che could sing a song from beginning to end without over singing one section, or sounding really wobbly during the lower register (usually the first verse) then I would quite happily give him loads of credit for a flawless vocal performance. He hasn't done that yet.

Che's voice is insane but he is getting really predictable and a bit dull.

Just wondering what does everyone find so boring about Che's voice? I'm genuinely interested because for me his voice is more than enough!

He's different to the Jahmenes and Andreas because he's not trying to sing the big diva songs, he doesn't have that type of voice! He has an amazing traditional R&B voice, something I don't think we've ever had before with a male X Factor contestant!

Maybe it's just personal taste.

For me, his vocal style is a bit like Sam Smith's. There's no denying it's distinctive, but he over sings, and that's what puts me off Che as a singer. Sam Smith is a global superstar, but even his voice grates on me so much.

Then you mention Jahmene who I thought was terrible. He sounded to me like a wounded puppy yelping his way through songs struggling with high notes. I just didn't like his voice either. I much prefer it when singers just sing "straight" - by that I mean, just sing the note without adding 20 additional notes to one word. Some might find it boring, but I find it a lot more tolerable.

It's like I posted in the thread about melisma, it's a good thing someone like Frank Sinatra wasn't starting out today in 2015. He had the ability to sing brilliantly without having to resort to making the song his "ooooo-ooooo-ooowwww-owwwww-oowww-wwwwnnn".

I can imagine Cowell saying to the likes of Marvin Gaye or Luther Vandross 'call yourself a soul singer, where are the money notes and the trills? Sorry son, you're too boring for us. Learn to shout and come back next year'

Oh gosh, there were times when Jahmene's performances literally hurt my ears.

And Sam Smith's voice on that James Bond track is aural torture.

I found both Jahmene and Andrea unpleasant to listen to. I'm a soul girl but I love pure voice like honey rather than the Mariah style warblers.

In the same way that I think I could be one of a very small minority who has never heard the Adele track, I've also managed to avoid hearing the Sam Smith James Bond theme and happy to keep it that way

I could imagine this happening. Or I'm very very scared that it could be Louisa, just because the amount of praise she's getting that, like always, the public may assume she's safe.

Although saying that, I thought Seann was certainly a surprise last week.
