He's different to the Jahmenes and Andreas because he's not trying to sing the big diva songs, he doesn't have that type of voice! He has an amazing traditional R&B voice, something I don't think we've ever had before with a male X Factor contestant!”
Maybe it's just personal taste.
For me, his vocal style is a bit like Sam Smith's. There's no denying it's distinctive, but he over sings, and that's what puts me off Che as a singer. Sam Smith is a global superstar, but even his voice grates on me so much.
Then you mention Jahmene who I thought was terrible. He sounded to me like a wounded puppy yelping his way through songs struggling with high notes. I just didn't like his voice either. I much prefer it when singers just sing "straight" - by that I mean, just sing the note without adding 20 additional notes to one word. Some might find it boring, but I find it a lot more tolerable.
It's like I posted in the thread about melisma, it's a good thing someone like Frank Sinatra wasn't starting out today in 2015. He had the ability to sing brilliantly without having to resort to making the song his "ooooo-ooooo-ooowwww-owwwww-oowww-wwwwnnn".
