I do feel sorry for Olly, but I imagine if it was Caroline who had made the mistake then this thread would have been 10 pages long already, demanding she be sacked.

Just like twitter, where Olly is getting mostly support for his gaffe, yet had Caroline made the mistake instead, she would have been lynched on Twitter.

It just fuels the theory, that women get far more harshly judged on their actions, than men do.

It's probably because you feel more responsible for women than you do men that you think that

Olly says to his forgiving fans on twitter that he is 'learning'. I really don't think prime time TV is he place to be learning, that takes place in drama school and when you have learnt you apply for jobs on TV. It must be sickening for the hundreds of trained actors who are easily capable of this job to watch this amatuer struggle.

I think he actually made things worse for himself by repeating he'd made a mistake and apologising for it at least three times. He sounded really defensive as well, almost like he knew that he'd get a telling off once the cameras stop rolling....

The way he said "I've made a mistake" was a bit cringy too. A better presenter I think would have saved the situation by saying something witty and moving swiftly on....

This is my issue.

I saw lots of other presenters supporting Olly on twitter last night including Dermott but my issue is that I would have quite happily have forgiven Olly his monumental gaff if he had been a decent presenter the whole of the series but he he hasn't. He has been amateurish at best.

Olly is just out of his depth and should stick to singing and entertaining which he is very good at. Flack on the other hand is supposed to be a professional presenter. She just comes across as a budget Davina.

I suppose it's mostly because women tend to judge women way more harshly than they judge attractive men. And let's face it, it's mostly women on Twitter.

Totally agree. I can not bear Olly Murs. From his fist audition where I sat open mouthed while they praised his Friday night karaoke and shocking dad dancing as 'cool' and every time on tv since, my teeth have started itching just looking at his face.
Everything about him makes me want to punch myself repeatedly in the face.
But he's a comedy genius with his new character where he plays a bumbling tv presenter, so bad he makes David Brent look sophisticated. He plays the part so well, you could almost believe it's real but then you realise no one could be that amateurish and still have a job...................

Sack them both. It's absurd how one of the UK's biggest reality shows has these two idiotic amateurs fronting it. Are there NO other presenters available? It's embarrassing.

Look back at the old T4 gang. Or Davina? Even bloody Kate Thornton!

For the first time in this series people have talked about X Factor at work and it's all down to Ollie, expect viewing figures to shoot up next week with the amount of publicity he has given the show..

OH MY GOD. He made a mistake and got confused with what Nick said. He shouldn't be getting all this stick. I think him and Caroline are doing a good job, people need to get over he fact that Dermot has left, I think everyone is complaining about the he presenters because they don't like change full stop.

Everyone on gaffe watch

I think Caroline will take over next week on the results - when the judges are voting. It's too confusing for Olly

I don't think he'll be back if there's a 2016 X Factor. I think he knows himself he's no presenter. Simon Cowell will either bin him or he'll walk voluntarily.

Im reading this thread. ...and im still in stitches over Ollys gaffe! !! Still like him as a performer...but no way is he a presenter and I believe this is something hat won't be brushed under the carpet in a hurry! !!

Simon won't sack him....olly got the nation talking about his beloved show..."right back at you Shrictly"!!!

Caroline on the other hand. ...well she did get in the way by telling him off...plus allowing contestants to stand in front of her! !!

Notably, Dermot! Bring him back

You're correct, he got it wrong just after Cheryl chose who to eliminate and just before Simon put forward a name.
Olly said exactly what you described and I was very confused as I was sure that Cheryl said that she wanted the girl to stay. And I was right. I thought I made a mistake and got it wrong at first.
Then Olly made the same mistake after Simon made his decision.

I haven't watched the X Factor for about 5 years. I just tuned in for a bit the other night, and I was met with this shambles.
After 5 years I can see a very clear difference in production quality from then and now.

He made the mistake once already prior to that moment.
He made the mistake when the judges were voting, then he carried on and made the same mistake again. Obviously nobody corrected him when he first made it, so when it came to the more crucial moment he made it again.

I feel tad sorry for him.”

And that's why they used to hire professional presenters who had training experience for presenting jobs, not just grab hold of anyone they feel like.

If X Factor is back next year, they really need to ditch Olly Murs as a presenter, as he clearly is not apt for it, Besides, they don't need two presenters, it works better with just one.

I don't think it's about production quality, but we are more educated and aware what's going on behind the cameras.

As useless as he is (and he is quite useless), I find Caroline worse.
Especially given that this is her main profession.

Olly Murs is an attractive man? Geez, the UK is really in trouble.
