Where did she say bang bang? I don't see it.

I AM SO OFFENDED... No wait, FS this is the worst faux outrage I've seen in a while.

I've been watching the news all weekend and I'm glad they changed the songs out of respect but that was nothing. It was a fine exit, she said thank you to all the judges and then she got over excited when asked about how she'll miss the other contestants saying her goodbye to them "XF Class of 2015... Bang bang bang" whilst fist pumping. I am not offended.

The tiny 1 second bit at the end where she punches the air?

And people are utterly outraged?

I think people need to out out more.

Clearly she meant nothing by it but it's a pretty disgusting way to behave whether there's just been a terrorist atrocity or not. Does she think she's some kind of gangster?

I think the reaction here is over the top to say the least. Not one person on the stage reacted to it.

We do live in a world where we reserve to be selectionally outraged though. Never mind the other atrocities recently lets all change our facebook photo to the tricolour for this one because its nearer to home.

How can you be outraged by this?

I am more outraged they changed the songs in the first place. Shut the front door white people have died. Well done everyone, the terrorists won

Who's outraged by it? As far I can see, no one has actually claimed to be outraged. They have pointed out how inappropriate Monica's comment and accompanying gesture was. But I see no outrage.

FWIW, I think Monica just got carried away with emotion and said/did the first thing that came into her head. However, it was ill-judged and inappropriate.

Incidentally, the 3 minute youtube vid of the results debacle (posted upthread) is hilarious! It's like a spoof!

I remember Rachel Hylton doing it in 2008, but that revolting chav did against someone's head when they were unaware.

Not outraged, just pointing out the ill-timing and insensitivity.

Tonight was TV gold. I don't think you could script a better series of cock ups. Well done X Factor I haven't laughed so much for a while.

I must say I didn't notice. Then again I'm not hypersensitive to the random stuff people come out with on TV.

I think people are being a bit harsh on her, yes it was quite strange but I'm sure she was going through a lot of emotions at the time and just got a bit carried away. The attacks on her background and calling her a chav is all just a bit unecessary. Do you know her personally?? Or is it just a case of let's mock the person who speaks differently to us?

It was an insensitive thing to do but I doubt it was done on

For god sake, get a grip. People are so bloody sensitive it's unbelievable. What happened in Paris is absolutely horrific, but things like that are happening every single day in other countries. I logged onto Facebook earlier and everyone is changing their profile picture to the French flag. The other day a few hundred innocent people were killed by terrorists in Lebanon, but I don't see anyone with the Lebanese flag as their profile picture. Things like this are happening every single day. Lauren and Monica should not even have changed the songs they were originally supposed to perform. Anyone idiotic enough to have linked the songs to what happened in Paris needs to take a long hard look at themselves. Oooohh "Bang Bang", ooohhh "License To Kill"...get over yourself, it's a song for crying out loud. Stop being so over sensitive and get a bloody life.

Did Olly say to Anton "Go and join your fellow X Factor?"

It was a pretty dumb thing to do, I doubt she even thought about the Paris killings when she did it. So stupid yes, intentionally insensitive no.

They changed songs for this reason and she still says something like that. Obviously she didn't mean to be so insensitive, still the use of that saying and gesture amongst some people is clearly horrible and people should stop doing it.

She clearly didn't mean to disrespect the victims of the attack in Paris, sometimes I think that people overreact to the strangest things.

Another victory for the terrorists if we get into this state over a spontaneous remark in the context of a music show.
johartuk
16-11-2015
Once again, nobody got 'into a state' about what Monica said. People commented on it, which is natural. We see things and comment on them. Nobody is hysterical - in fact many people have pointed out that it was clearly not done with any negative intent, and was clearly a spur of the moment thing, done when she was in an emotional state, and meant as a comment/gesture of support to her fellow contestants.

All that being said, it was ill-judged and inappropriate, whatever way you look at it, and I suspect that Monica realised that pretty quickly.

Monica has apologised on Twitter

"Monica Michael – Verified account ‏@monicamichaeluk

I want to apologise for any offence caused on the @TheXFactor tonight. I wasn't thinking beyond the moment & it was insensitive, sorry.
2:20 p.m. - 15 Nov 2015"
