I just cannot watch it as the book it's based on really, really annoyed me. It was like join the dots crime with unbelievable characters.
Seems the tv version is the same? |

Thanks Ess_Bee I've been trying to place him, I fancy him too although I could do without the accent
![]() I like Matt as he has a sweet, open face. Shame he seems to have either shaved his head or is going drastically bald, for this role. He played DC and DS Barnard in Frost and as I recall,

I have been watching this from the beginning; like many other series it is poor, in fact it is so bad it's good!!! Probably end up as cult classic.

I've been enjoying this. Same production team as Father Brown and the music is similar to WPC56 all three composed by Debbie Wiseman.
The locations I know very well. Dartmouth, Bayards Cove, the lower ferry. Broadsands beach in Paignton (they did not get the steam train in the background crossing the viaducts as it would have confused the time period), Oldway Mansion in Paignton. Torquay, Fleet Walk car park. Hope Cove, Salcombe, Slapton Sands, Totnes. Lighthaven must be a big town. Apparently it has generated a lot of interest in South Devon as the viewers are likely to be retired or parents at home. They are already planning a second series which looks like will upset the critics on here.. Like Father Brown this series will sell all over the world under BBC worldwide guidance who are putting money upfront. Another new programme is London Spy which is so slow I watch it at double speed and only return to normal when someone is speaking. You can get through the programme in half the time but I expect it will be critically acclaimed. The Coroner had one good write up. |

Ludicrous episode about the shipping containers on the beach, as if it would only be locals looting them. as if a Coroner would have the time to become a policewoman, cartoon characters running the pub. Theres a lot of dead bodies for such a small place, about 5 a week found.!

Well, for those who really dislike The Coroner, look on the bright side - the Doctor Blake Mysteries are back next week.

Good one starting tonight called Capital. No doubt there'll be a thread for it. |

HM Spouse thinks it's trash and won't watch it. I agree but it tickles my laughter buds, so I am carrying on when she's out!

The storylines are a bit thin but Claire Goose is simply stunning and a very good actress

Yesterday's episode The Salcombe Selkie was great, it's really improving, I love the chemistry between the two leads, Claire Goose is so natural. It's pretty good for daytime TV. I hope they do make more of it. It's a grower

He WAS her boyfriend when they were teenagers but he dumped her and married someone else. He's still married but we've mysteriously never seen his wife, who he talks to on his mobile. He's obviously is kicking himself he was such an idiot.

For a daytime drama this isn't too bad - the characters are quite fun and it's watchable fluff. I enjoy it more than the overly worthy Moving On series, anyway. |

He's her former (teenage, I believe) boyfriend, from before she moved away. There's still some good chemistry there though, despite her apparent number (according to stroppy daughter) of serious partners and an ex-husband, and him having a partner (? not wife) who we never see.

Davey Higgins is married to Annette and they have no children. The writers are using the Arthur Daley storyline of never showing her...... yet. From the show bible Davey and Jane are based on the characters from the film Adam's Rib with a touch of Monnlighting "will they. won't they". The X Files was ruined when they did.

See Sally Abbots blog. It does not mention his wife's name but it has been mentioned at least twice so far.

Thanks for the link to the blog - there's a lot of detail there! It sounds as though the lead writer and producers are hoping this will run and run, as they are preparing for an April to July filming window if they get a second series, and they have a series bible with multiple writers. This was interesting: Quote:
We know the moment they get together, we’ll lose interest in them so written in the bible in bold capitals is “THEY CAN NEVER GET TOGETHER!”
With the premise of strictly stand-alone episodes I suppose that has to be the case anyway. I'm a little sorry about that.

I love The Coroner.
I especially like the interplay between Jane and Davie. They used to be an item but went their own way and each married someone else. There is still a spark between them. It did cross my mind that the coroner tends to do a lot of the police work but it doesn't worry me. I think it is well cast and I like the setting. |
