I only watched a couple of episodes and it was really good. I looked at the DVDs on Amazon and brute way too expensive.

I don't watch many UK dramas and I am generally not a fan of the BBC, but I have watched both seasons over the last few days and I think it is an excellent production. The chemistry between the two of them works well when they have those moments. The silliness of the older couple adds a nice touch of humour. This is welcome when the main storylines are always about deaths.

The thing about her being accident-prone seems mostly pointless although there was one episode where she knocked over some papers which had some relevance. Mostly it is just there as a gimmicky, quirky touch with him nicknaming her "Calamity" Jane. Some of the plots were predictable including characters coming out as gay and I saw the trans sister/brother a mile off. Overall though, very enjoyable escapism and I hope they do make more of them.

The characters are lovable, the romantic tension between Jane and Davey is really good, and the stories are entertaining. For a daytime show it's alot better than we get most of the time.

I love it too. Davey and Jane need to get together, but they say it will never happen. Also Mick is just great, and Jane's clerk Clint is just so dippy. Lovely easy to watch as the winter crept in.

I read in the papers and the internet the writer has said it won't happen. She at the moment is not going to let it happen. Though I wish she would.

Exactly. Davey being married isn't a valid reason for why all the deliberate buildup shouldn't have a pay off in the end. If they aren't going to give the viewers a pay off then the writers need to stop with the romantically laced scenes they have in every episode.

Davey doesn't even seem happily married. The only time we hear about his wife is when she's asking for his attention or for him to get some shopping. He doesn't spend much time at home with his hours investigating or in the pub, so Janey ends up seeing more of him than his poor wife.

It's the usual writer's ploy, get the "will they, won't they?" thought in the viewers' heads and they'll keep watching "in case they do."

My husband is off at the moment after having a hernia op. He watched a couple of the episodes with me and enjoyed it, so we're now watching the whole first series together, and then we'll watch series 2.

Now BBC worldwide are involved with 20 episodes to sell abroad there probably will be a third series. Father Brown is sold to 162 territories although series 5 in January looks like Lady Felicia is being replaced by her niece Bunty and Sid has gone.
