Why isn't the Big Brother forum moved into "Reality TV" out of series?

It's a lot longer than 3 months that search has been flaky.

It doesn't look like there's any intention to fix it, ever.

If Big Brother was still on Channel 4 then yeah ok I would keep it on the main page but since the ratings have drastically reduced on Channel 5 in the last 12 months or so and the show has become a shadow of it's former years it does not deserve or have any reason to be on the main page all year round, considering it only airs for 16 of the 52 weeks in a year.”

That doesn't matter. Why would DS care about the ratings of the shows when deciding which sub-forums stay on the front page and which don't? This sub-forum has over 16 million posts, more than any other sub-forum on the entire forum. That's what matters, not the relevancy of each show on TV since this forum isn't a TV network. The next closest sub-forum is General Discussion which is still nearly 3 million posts behind this sub-forum.

Spot On! Thats exactly the point and when they did try to move it when Ch4 axed it they had to put it back due to the complaints !

Who cares about strictly and xfactor when you are a BB die hard? For what it's worth BB deserves its front page position! The digital Spy forum is known worldwide mainly because of BB. Even Digital Spy admits and advertises the BB forum is the most active in the world! So why would you want to relegate it to sub forums? They did it once and there were huge complaints so why would they want to stop most of their visitor traffic which actually occurs during BB?

Why would they want to piss off and jepodise the most visitor traffic they get which occurs during BB?

No, it is not what matters. That the BB forum has millions of posts from years ago that can't even be searched properly is not what matters. And the same goes as a reply to all the other posts that try to use the 16 million.

Ratings indicate interest in the show, and D Spy would of course want to make it easy to find forums for shows that interest many people. So the idea that D Spy wouldn't care about ratings is a bit odd.

The BB die-hards who don't care about XF or other things discussed on D Spy are producing almost no traffic now.

And relegating the forum during the off season would not stop traffic which occurs during BB.

I don't think they did put it back because of complaints.

If the relegation was after bb11, then the most likely explanation was that BB had been axed; and if the forum was then put back, the most likely explanation was that it was because BB was being revived by C5.

If the BB forum is relegated when BB isn't on air (which is what this thread is about), then it wouldn't be a problem for traffic that occurs during BB.

Well I am a die hard and producing traffic! And I certainly don't care about xfactor!
Why should the most active BB forum around the world during BB be relegated to a sub forum in the off season? How long does it get relegated? And when does it go back on the front page? You haven't answered those questions.

It would be all too hard for Digital Spy who boast the the most active BB forum any where in the world! Does xfactor get relegated in the off season?

The 16 mill is revelant....

XF began in 2004, so has been going nearly 2/3's as long as BB - yet still has barely a quarter of the posts of BB...............

It's relevance is too distant. It basically just says the BB forum was very active in the past.

What it says is that the XF has never at anytime caught up with BB and to bring things upto date here are the number of threads to have received posts in the past `12mths (thats as much as you can glean from Ds ancient search facility) -

BB - 703

XF - 99

No one is saying that BB should be in a sub-forum while BB is on. That's when the great majority of posts were made in the past 12 months.

So what abut the other shows on the front page (not just XF) should they be moved during their off seasons too? I don't see why BB should be treated worse then those - yet no one is mentioning moving any of the others??

Because no one is posting on those other forums in their off-seasons

Only on DSBB would we have people posting off-season to say we're not posting enough to keep the subforum on the front page. Though that very discussion helps warrant keeping it there.

My guess is that it's because we're in a BB forum and not a forum for any of those other shows.

But my opinion is that other forums that are similarly inactive should be relegated too. Or else D Spy shouldn't relegate the forums for any shows that are expected to make a regular return after their off seasons.

No, it doesn't. It shows that we are saying so little about BB that a thread like this, that isn't about the show, is one of the most active.

How many hits each subforum gets is more important to a commercial website than how many posts are being made.

People may come here to check for rumours or ex-housemate news without having anything to comment on.
