Last night BB4 showed a film titled "The Man Who Would Be King" which I watched entirely by accident!

Apparently Jimmy "Orion" Ellis was a college footballer who sang in the shower while changing. What made him unique was that he not only looked like Elvis but had a voice like him too. His recording credits include cooperation with some of the biggest names of the 60s.

I am surprised I had never heard of him as it was my time too. iPlayer link above and some fascinating film footage.

I recorded that programme as I thought it might be interesting but haven't got round to watching it.

Quite a good voice, in fact great, compared to many contemporary male singers. I admire singers who can stay in tune and hold "long tones."

I flicked over 30 minutes in. He really looked like Vernon Elvis's dad.

There is currently a Jimmy Adele doing the rounds, but not a patch unfortunately...
