Looking forward to the reunion apparently at first she doesn't realise the man in front of her is the doctor ,her doctor who she loved too and beyond death.

Working together is bound to bring back old memories and feelings.
Think after losing Clara even if she gets a happy ending it will be good for the doctor to be near River.

Will the dearly departed Amy and Rory get a brief mention ?. Hope they are at peace.

Will offer him some comfort. But it can't last can it ?.
Expect once they have done and said what they need to there will be a bitter sweet goodbye. Especially if it really will be her final story.

Will have a tissue on standby.

I'd be more interested to learn someday about his real, proper one-true wife from long, long ago. The one that gave him his family.

Looking forward to seeing what flavour her relationship with 12 has. We saw many sides of her when she was with 11 at various points, so be interesting to see whether she's post doctorate and death River, or sexed up, or just plain old 'I scissored with a Silurian once" dirty. The Doctor would be wrapping presents and tells her to be careful with the ones she's wrapping herself, noting how fussy their Silurian recipients are. Then he asks her to pass the scissors. Am hoping combination, but maybe more a limbo ghost River (would be f estive enough for Xmas) who could in fact be quite pissed off quietly that the Doctor has another however many lives. There were his air vent lies to Clyde about being able to regenerate hundreds of times.

How can she not know hes the doctor?? First clara, now river?

Interesting that River supposedly won't recognise the Doctor at first. Personally, I'm hoping that she does recognise him and is just messing with him. Then she'll turn around half-way through the episode and drop him in it, revealing she knew all along. I can absolutely see her saying something like, "What kind of wife would I be if I didn't recognise my husband, sweetie?"

Also, I hope we finally get to see River learn the Doctor's name. She knew his name in Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead and The Name of the Doctor, so it'd be nice to find out how she discovered it. Only one time the Doctor could tell someone his name, according to Ten...

I'll be very annoyed if she makes a big thing of how 'old' the Doctor looks considering there's only five years difference between Alex Kingston and Capaldi.

I hope there isn't any romance, as such, but hopefully there will be "sparks flying" as both are such strong personalities it's no stretch to imagine they'd rub each other up the wrong way at first.

River could, perhaps, give him some comfort and solace after Clara's "departure".

Because his is the first of a new set of regenerations?

One true wife? I don't think he's even mentioned such a thing. He has described being married a few times though.

I think when they permanently send River off, i do hope they do it by sending her off to save him in The Library.

There needs to be the full circle closure.

Moffat loves to bully his characters. It creeped me out some of the stuff Amy was put through and I'm amazed she didn't end up insane.

From the vibe I got when he said it, that wouldn't make for family viewing...

I think capaldi and Kingston will play well off each other. Was never comfortable with matt smith as he was too young for her.

I'm sure it would involve handcuffs.....

Call her what you will, the first, bearer of his children, his soulmate, the true one, whatever. I merely termed her that way to differentiate her from any other to clarify which one she was/is.

Didn't she say once along the lines of she had pictures of all his faces, past and future? But as far as 11 knew there wouldn't be any more.

He didn't tell her his name during the wedding, if that's what you mean - he told her to look into his eyes. So she could see he was inside a Tesselecta.

He may have told her his name later.....

Though perhaps "Look into my eyes" is his name, who knows?

Don't know what it will do for timelines and continuity.
Could he really send her to die in the library (again ?).

One question I always wanted answered why did her message get sent to the "wrong" doctor ?.

Who was it suppose to be for 11 or another doctor we haven't seen yet ?.

Maybe some not all will be answered at Christmas.

I feel like the River story has been a buggers muddle since the start of the Moffat run - her character was twisted and warped beyond how she was originally presented in the Library (and in my opinion the best version) and doesn't really make that much sense anymore.

However, someones earlier suggestion of her about to go to the Library is cool.

I would like the Christmas special to end with the promise of potential further encounters between the Doctor and River. We've just lost Clara so it would be nice to have an optimistic ending for the Christmas episode.

It can bring home the point that the Doctor will never really know when he's having his last meeting with River, which would be a bittersweet realisation. Happy because there's a chance he might not lose her for a long time. Sad because this could well be their last meeting from his point of view and he wouldn't know.

In any case, if Capaldi and Kingston have great chemistry, then Moffat absolutely should bring River back again after this.

I LOVE River. I am super pleased that she is coming back for the Christmas special. If the chemistry is there between Alex Kingston and Peter Capaldi then River should definitely feature more often, she is a brilliant character. I only wish Moffat had brought her back sooner.

I like the idea of River's final episode being her heading to the library and therefore concluding her story full circle.

Actually I would like to see Vastra, Jenny and Strax again. And the Weeping Angels!

I hope we get a title for this episode on the 5th December (or before then). The Radio Times Christmas issue is coming out on the 5th, and it seems likely to be featured in that.
