I have been having a problem with receiving delivery reports. I have only experienced this problem when I send a text message that contains an emoji icon. These are text messages that are not being converted and sent as multimedia messages.

When I send text messages without using any emoji icons, I get a delivery report.

Has any experienced this using o2 or on an MVNO that uses the o2 network?

Thanks in advance.

are you sure they are not being converted to picture messages though? Often they are when using proper emojis. Its why i dont use them and just use the :P type shortcuts.

id turn on delivery reports for MMS and try sending one just to see

I have checked my texts and they don't seem to be being sent as multimedia messages because I am not being charged when I have sent them.

Also, I have noticed that the prefix of *0# that have to use with o2 for delivery reports is not stripped out before the message reaches a recipient's phone and therefore appears in the message.

I am not sure why this is happening.

Anymore advice would be good.

Thanks in advance.

I understood that if you send an emoji it automatically goes as an MMS. In my case with 02 I am charged as MMS messages are not included in my package.

When you include an emoji the message is encoded differently (using UTF-16). I assume that o2's smsc can't handle this which is why delivery reports aren't working. I wouldn't get your hopes up of it being fixed.
