This is a true masterpiece, I have never heard a song produced, a song written, and a song sung like this before. The pain, the heartache, just the sheer passion, makes this one of the greatest songs I have ever heard. Truly a stunning piece of work! Brought a real tear to my eye!

Even better than someone like you! She does it again!

There is hyperbole and then there is lunacy.

It's obviously a song you like. I'm not suggesting you shouldn't like it.

But by the same token, millions of people would tell you that it isn't.
It's down to personal perception.

I'd suggest you listen to more music, not just stuff released this year. They've been writing "great songs" for at least a hundred years, so there's quite a lot now.

And yes the same thing could be said just because it is a song released this year doesn't mean it isn't a great song and one of the greatest

She seems to have ripped off Lana Del Rey's Video Games. That was an infinitely better song though.

I love Video Games, still her best song, imo. People have been accusing Lana of ripping off video games since it came out so funny it's mentioned here. I would think Wildest Dreams is a closer rip off of Lana then this song by Adele. Or maybe she was just inspired?
As for the comparison with Adele's song. The vocal delivery alone is miles apart. And technically speaking, Lana is so far removed from Adele.
As for the OP. That's really cool the song means so much to you. It's rare when that happens.

If the OP thinks that this melodically challenged dirge is one of the greatest songs ever written, he obviously hasn't listened to many other songs.

i don;'t exaggerate, its just my opinion as you have your own. Everyone who has previously said the same about a song, has come from opinion

I agree with you to some extent. I think 'When We were Young' shows a side of Adele I wasn't sure about (getting into the song in a soulful, free way) which I think was impressive. This 'Love in the Dark' song is more of a dirge and a step back but interest in Adele is unrelenting.

Adele is a phenonemon which needs explanation. Perhaps what is interesting is that there are many posters here and fans elsewhere who are overstating the quality of Adele's music. Maybe they really are unfamiliar with some of the great singers and songs of earlier times ( Aretha, ' I Say a little Prayer', Ella Fitzgerald, 'Dream a little Dream', Billie Holiday, ' Strange Fruit' , Dusty, 'Son of a Preacher Man')? Many of whom are influences on Adele.

I've about a dozen versions of what I consider "the greatest song ever written," but I bet few, if any would agree.

A good guide to a "great song" is how many great artists have recorded it over the years.

For what it's worth, here's three versions of mine.

What is significant is that such timeless classics have often being recorded by artists, some born decades after the song was written.

"My One and Only Love," written in 1952 by Guy Wood, lyrics by Robert Mellin.

Recorded by Frank Sinatra in 1953 (this version is one of my copies)

Recorded by John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman, in 1963

Recorded by Halie Loren in 2013.
The song was written 32 years before she was born.

And I wish you would punctuate that sentence so that it makes sense.
