Best cheapish tablet ?
Well its that time of year where Im wondering what to get the husband for Christmas
![]() Im looking for a cheapish tablet for him Ive got about £100. Now its not for playing games on or FB he doesnt bother with either of them. But hes a builder so he uses it mostly for searching for wheres the nearest B+Q to where ever hes working. Or looking for supplies He uses his phone to look for things but its only a small screen so I thought Id get him a tablet a decent size one. Ive been told Ive got arthritus in my knees and the doctor said ...have you ever thought of getting a walking stick I said ermmm no ....but I could see a throught bubble over his head saying.....ohhhhh thats her Christmas present sorted . The sad thing is he wont think its not a good present to get me lol..So whats the best tablet...decent size screen...up to £100 or less if possible. Thanks |

Ordinarily I'd have recommended the Tesco Hudl2 on the basis of my mother's being happy with it, but I believe Tesco are withdrawing from the market and I don't know how easy they are to get any more. I was never happy with my Nexus (too quick to drain, too slow to charge) but a couple of friends have Kindle Fires (Amazon) and are happy enough with them.iPads all the way for me now, but that's a bit out of the price bracket. |

It's a bit like people who call their vacuum cleaners 'Hoovers' when they are made by a different company. |

An iPad is a tablet made by Apple. Other tablets are not iPads.

kindle fire hds are on special offer from Tesco at £50 at the moment, and you can use clubcard boost. You could buy perhaps a chromecast or printer as well and still be inside £100 budget.

I think they pretty much all come with web access as well as apps. Get him a Google Nexus 7 (2013), link above. It has a decent size screen, and he can do what he wants with it, he doesn't have to play games or go on FB he could just use it for browsing.
If he still decides that he doesn't want it i'm sure you will have lots of fun with it. I have one, and have to say am slightly in love with mine.

You mentioned that he will want to check locations of stores, stock etc, well he'll either need a tablet with 3G/4G or he'll need to create a WIFI hot spot using his phone, to enable his tablet to connect to the internet. Otherwise he'll need to use customers wifi etc, which can be a pain, if they need passwords etc.
The better solution is maybe to get a new phone/phablet as it seems a PITA to get a hotspot just to use google. When you can just bring it up on the phone. |

^^ Ah ok I thought he'd want to use the tablet when out and about. I have a Fire Tablet and it's very good, the main reason for me was the ability to download (some) Amazon Prime Video content to it for offline viewing, great for air travel etc. But I also have an ipad which is my main tablet and it's a great device.

Currently on offer within your price range on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/re...ce=100&x=0&y=0 I'd recommend the Levono Yoga 2 however, it's a bit more expensive, but it's a bargain for the specs. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-YOGA-...=lenovo+tablet |

I've just ordered the 7 inch Kindle Fire which I intend to give away as a Christmas present.
At £34.99, it's an excellent product for silly money. Beats those cheap low spec Chinese tablets that cost the same. |

There is a way to add Google Play store - to expand past Amazons shop
Don't have a Fire so not tried it myself - but seems quite straight forward http://blog.the-ebook-reader.com/201...tablets-video/' |
