Recommend some good current music

I had the misfortune of listening to the charts a few weeks ago and in all honesty thought that every song was awful. I know this topic has been debated to death on here and I don't want to do that again but there seems to be a popular opinion that there is good music out there if you look for it. I'll be honest, I'm lazy and can't be bothered looking for it so can some people provide me with links to some inspiring current music that will change my view and restore my faith in the music scene?

I feel the same about the charts. These are my favourite acts who are worth checking out.

Try listening to Chvrches.

Their latest single Empty Threat.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNHxwSp-6Og

And their last one Leave a Trace

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Eo84jDIMKI

And my favourite group Hurts who are big in Europe, but just can't seem to break England even though they are from Manchester. They seem to have achieved cult status in Russia and out that way. My favourite single is Stay, but these are more recent tracks.

First single from their latest album Surrender. Some kind of Heaven.

New single Wings

An older one - Somebody to die for

Enjoy!

Indeed it is.

'Silver Bullets' - The Chills.
First album from them in many years and well worth the wait.

'Esque' by Rob Bravery is my other current favourite.

Agnes Obel - Riverside

Danish songstress whose style is haunting, stunning and beautiful all at the same time. It's 5 years old but it's an incredible piece of music imo. Still love this song to this day.

Agnes Obel - Fuel To Fire

This second choice is taken from her second album. It's similar to Riverside but it's another song that mesmerised me when I first heard it.

Oscar has released a couple of singles and an EP this year, all worth checking out, but this is his latest and greatest;

Breaking My Phone

Unknown Mortal Orchestra are one of the best bands around, Multi-Love a Top 10 album for me this year. Been repeating this a lot.

Necessary Evil

FEMME has also so far only released singles, and was very good live in Brighton. It's harder to pick her best song, so here's Fever Boy.

I'm obsessed with The Death of Pop, particularly this tune Gardens.

Some great albums from this year - whether any of them 'restores your faith' in current music is your problem, but as far as I am concerned it has been a great year for music. If anything I'd say there have been too many great albums this year and deciding what to buy each week has been a hassle that I've enjoyed:

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly
Julia Holter - Have You In My Wilderness
Dawn Richard - Blackheart
Grimes - Art Angels
Floating Points - Elaenia
Empress Of - Me
Future - DS2
Vince Staples - Summertime '06
Ibeyi - Ibeyi
Dj Richard - Grind
Dr Dre - Compton
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell
Beach House - Depression Cherry/Thank Your Lucky Stars
Sleater-Kinney - No Cities To Love
Tame Impala - Currents
Bjork - Vulnicura
Holly Herndon - Platform
Cio D'Or - All In All
Courtney Barnett - Sometime I Sit and Think, Sometimes I Just Sit
FKA twigs - M3LL155X
Kamasi Washington - The Epic
Levon Vincent - Levon Vincent
Chvrches - Every Open Eye
Torres - Sprinter
Arca - Mutant
Sexwitch - Sexwitch
Kode9 - Nothing
Kelela - Hallucinogen
Oneohtrix Point Never - Garden Of Delete
Roisin Murphy - Hairless Toys
Natasha Kmeto - Inevitable
Lana Del Rey - Honeymoon
Helena Hauff - Discreet Desires

There are bound to be other albums that I've enjoyed that I have missed off.

Agree with the previous poster that Emotion by Carly Rae Jepsen is superior quality pop if that's what you're into.

Otherwise, I don't think it's been a vintage year musically.

Sandi Thom has a new single called Earthquake
Enya has a new single called "Echos In The Rain" Infact Enya has a whole new album (this will play 25 seconds of each track)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wIWg2gb3Nw

Both those singles are on Youtube.

Whatever you do though, don't play them. Capital will be upset. Instead play Justin Beiber, Adele and X Factor winners on a loop.
