I wish the judges wouldn't encourage the contestants to stray from the melody. I'm not a McCartney fan, but Paul didn't pen a classic tune so that upstarts like Che can concoct their own crap impromptu version that doesn't hit the original tune once... hashtagsickofit...

I'm getting really sick of his dated song choices...I mean, how old is he??? 19 or 91???

His version was dreadful

He sang it in the only style he seems to know....boring now.

The judges seems to like it.

It's not that bad, but I find the judges comments are just OTT praises

He can sing but he ruined the beautiful melody of that classic song. When he can write his own songs he can do what he wants but until then...

Thank You for murdering a beautiful song, Ché!!!
Hope you are eliminated for this.

I loved it I feel like we should accept his talent and its to be as if it's a new song not a cover! It's to show themselves as a artist not a tribute act or cover artist! Although I do get the fact he sings old songs a bit outdated but can only assume that's the style of song he wants to sing but I hope if he makes it through next week the public pick something modern

I actually detest Yesterday.

It was actually nice to hear a version that was not the same tired karaoke we normally get.

It wasn't the same song. It was just the same words to a different melody.

Thanks, everyone.

- Kenneth – good point.

- Treewatcher – agree

- Jason – X-factor contestants don’t have the considerable talent required to improve on – or anywhere near match – a classic song, on the spot…

- Sgeandhu – I know what you mean

- Malc – agree

Is it on Youtube?

I think he's a talented singer, but I too am sick of all the deconstructed and reconstructed versions of songs that abound at the moment. I blame Ellie Goulding

Let's have some new material

That is shocking, it's a song about breaking up yet he sings with no feel and like every act on this programme it turns into vocal gymnastics and nothing is sung from the heart.

Thanks
Sorry to say that was ****ING HORRIBLE! The melody was completely changed/absent from the song! What the actual f*ck? Also he sang with no feeling whatsoever (isnt the song about Paul's mother? Not sure TBH), and those improvised runs made it even worse. You do NOT butcher the melody of a classic song like that (see Ellie Goulding - Your Song)
He did not sing from the heart

i could hardly recognise the song

in this case "making it your own" should most definitely have not been a compliment

There are some songs you just don't mess about with, and this is one of them.

You can still put your own stamp on them, your own emotion but keep the melody (e.g. Leona's Summertime, or Matt Cardle's First Time Ever I Saw Your Face)

I think messing up the melody allows him to hide from the demands of the song. He sang with no feeling whatsoever (which makes the upset about Grandad dying three years ago even more irritating) and tacked on some vocal gymnastics which are completely wrong for the song.

Plus he's ugly, looks about 20 years older than he is and has been styled as a Poundland Sam Smith.

Awful.

Forget the original, take it for what it was. Why you want to hear karaoke week after week? It was really good.

A truly talented singer can make it sound their own but still sing the actual song.

TOTALLY AGREE ... Thought the same thing when that girl was singing 'God Only Knows' the other week. One of the most gorgeous songs ever written, the melody changed and screamed instead of sung. This song is a tender, spiritual song .... it should NOT be screamed.

I didn't like it. I find that Che makes every song sound the same.
