His worst performance yet. He has been getting progressively worse every week for me.

Horrible version. Personally, I can't stand Yesterday and find it a dull dirge of a song but just doing the same words with a completely different melody was never going to be the way to go.

Would it kill them to let Che sing a song written after about 1970?

Even Post Modern Jukebox, who specialise in reworking covers, stick to the melody. Why no adverse comment from the judges? Were they scared that they may contribute to a deserved elimination? By far the worst effort of a very poor night. Actually Mason had one of his best nights, after a series of awful efforts, should have gone long ago.

Totally agree with that. Took me some time to recognise the what the song was supposed to be, FFS. Awful

Just watching this on catch up now - an utter shambolic version - vile

I hated it plus they've managed to turn a 19 year old into an old fart.

Not terribly surprised at the negative comments here, British public have never been great at identifying talent, unlike the U.S.

I don't think the original arrangements of songs are sacred (although the instrumentation on that one was typical x-factor cheese, see on-stage choirs) so I didn't mind that, but I didn't like the way he sang it

Wow. The knives are well and truly out for Ché on here it seems.

I thought it was good. Not his best performance by any means but then I hate the song and think it's probably the most overrated song in pop history. But it was considered, elegant and understated and crucially wasn't just designed to show off one or two big belter notes for cheap vote harvesting.

As for people complaining about the melody being changed - well if he'd stuck to the Beatles version you'd all just be complaining that it was too Karaoke.

I didnt think it was understated, it was all over the place, some notes were over the top and that "Yester yester yester yesterday" part at the end just pissed me off. Where was the emotion?
He's dressed like a chubby bank clerk too.

I really like his voice but I found that version very dull. I prefer him singing upbeat numbers

I was a horrible version of a classic song. Some songs you shouldn't try to re-write. The skill is in singing the flipping thing.

Don't be daft. The Beatles were one of the biggest bands - ever. Their songs still live on. Oh! and they were British. I could give you a long list of singers and bands that have either been discovered or become mega famous because of the British.

I also present to you one James Marshall Hendrix. Couldn't make the slightest impact in Seattle. Came to Britain, lived in Hanwell, managed by Chas Chandler. He was famous here before the rest of the world heard of him.

I also present to you the fact that it is really hard to crack America even for people born and bred there.

To suggest that the British know nothing about music is ill informed.

Agree with you, it wasn't bad but it wasn't the brilliance the judges was giving it, I thought that was bizarre.
