Sideloading Kitkat onto Nexus 7 (2012)
I had a Nexus 7 that I previously successfully downgraded to Kitkat from Lollipop using Nexus Tool Kit, and have tried to do it again on another which is now soft-bricked. I've got bootloader and system recovery access. The toolkit method has just left me with the white google logo and nothing else.
I've tried using an adb sideload of kitkat following all the instructions out there, but no matter what I do the command window always says it 'cannot read' the zip file when I try to sideload it. I've tried several downloaded from different sources and none of them work. I've got the full android sdk (although I had to create the platform tools folder myself from a seperate link) Can anyone help? I'm really not technically proficient but I've followed all the instructions to the letter and nothing's worked. |

You can also use
http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/ to help you, as it prompts for bits you might not have eg drivers and does some of the work for you. |

I tried that - the Android studio program caused me problems because all the instructions said referred to the 'platform tools' directory. Well, there isn't one within the program files folder - it doesn't exist. I had to download it using a seperate link that somene provided.
Going to try that flash-all thing now |

The flash-all command worked! Ah, Kitkat, how I love thee.
Thanks for your help. |
