It has bugged me for over 5 years, do you think it will be resolved soon? By the women I am talking about the women who kept visiting Wilf who was with the other time lords.

It was alluded to by Russell T Davies, but never categorically confirmed in the program, that the woman is The Doctor's Mum. I think it was decided to leave it open so the viewers could make up their own minds.

I'm very confident it won't be resolved soon.

Maybe Moffat or another showrunner will come back to that?

I doubt we will ever get a concrete answer for this. Just another example of Moffat trying to be clever and ending up with a silly plot hole that he doesn't bother explaining.

Darn tootin' Sal. "Moffat" will probably reveal that she is The Doctors father, you know what he's like.

I know what you mean. Just another reason Moffat's going to get this show cancelled before the next series, I've been saying it for half a decade.

We will probably never know, but it's enough that we kind of gather she was an important figure in his life. I reckon they cast an older woman in the role to push the idea that she was his mother.

Are you guys seriously attacking Moffat over this or are you joking? He didn't write The End of Time. :l

A tug on the line, guys!

To borrow a line from another well known space based SF show:

"Ah, humour. It is a difficult concept."

Especially in a "text only" environment such as this forum.

Sorry, Piipp.

And a "hook, line and sinker".

Sorry, lotrjw.

I always assumed she was his mother but it would have been nice to have it confirmed/explored.

As an aside - do Time Lords have some built in recognition system whereby they know old friends/family members despite them having regenerated numerous times since they last saw each other???

The End of...Time can be rewritten...

Moffat continually changes the history of the show because of his ego. Fact.

I hear that Moffat has actually figured out a way to re-write all the past episodes to take credit for End of Time, and as a result the last two series have ceased to exist. Sorry about that.

Moffat eats babies. Down with Moffat.

I'm not sure Moffat will want to revisit it. He's not ever shown much interest in anything that was in Doctor Who prior to 2010, apart from stuff he wrote himself.

I've always thought that was a shame, because RTD created a fascinating, joyful universe of characters and stories and then we pretty much never saw any if it again.

So I doubt we will see this resolved and perhaps its for the best. Meeting the Doctor's mum might be going a little too far in revealing too much about him.

Interestingly,
Spoiler
although Claire Bloom is not credited as appearing in the season 9 finale there is a character called "The Woman" played by someone else.

There was a recent spate of cars being keyed around these parts. Now, I can't prove it WAS Moffat, but I can't prove it WASN'T, if you know what I'm saying...

... I'm saying it was Steven Moffat, it was him, it was definitely him.

Except for Karn and the Sisterhood, the Great Intelligence, the Ice Warriors, the Zygons, the Silurians, the storyline from Genesis of the Daleks, Skaro, the Time War, UNIT and the Lethbridge-Stewart bloodline, Coal Hill School, the Eighth Doctor, the Tenth Doctor, RTD's reason for Capaldi's face, Cybermats, the Shadow Proclamation, Captain Jack Harkness, the Ood, etc.

I've heard a lot of rumour mongering about SM, but we have a new winner which even beats the 'Spectre' stuff and that p*pb*tch rubbish.... he wants to take credit for The End of Time?!

NB Generally really enjoyed the RTD era, but good *lord* I was disappointed by that story. Actually, Moffat probably liked it, mind! And not just the last bit 'what he wrote'.

On topic...I doubt 'the woman' will be referred to any time soon. And probably not at all. Claire Bloom is a very young looking 84, mind.

Going by my predictions, we'll now definitely see this picked up in 'Heaven Sent'...
