I think Bruno should be excluded from criticism. He gave them both identical marks in the show, so he was entitled to go either way in the dance-off. It's Craig and Darcey who should explain themselves, they both marked Jamelia higher in the show.

In that case, Bruno should be criticised for giving them the same mark.

I've just caught up and can't believe what I have just witnessed. Jamelia & Tristan were the better couple BOTH TIMES!!

Not only should she not have gone out tonight, she should not have even been in the DO in the first place - Helen should. Talk about 'adding insult to injury'.

In trying to find a silver lining for Jamelia, I'm so pleased for her that she reached the iconic Tower Ballroom and went out (if completely unfairly) at the highest and most memorable point of the series bar the Final - which she was never going to reach in any event. She came in with a barrage of negativity surrounding her (I clearly remember that plenty here and on other forms of SM did not even want her on the cast list) and left with her head held high, surrounded by a unexpected wave of sympathy. She also won many hearts along the way to picking up her undisputed record as "Queen of the Dance Off".

She should be very proud to have made it to Week 9, despite her very obvious lack of public support. And her children should be proud too.

Well done Jamelia - you go "gurl"!!!

I feel torn. I can't stand Jamelia, and feel ambivalent towards Peter.
Whilst I am happy that she has gone, she did dance better in the dance off than he did.

I have noticed the level of PA hatred on here so I wonder, if, say, it had been Jamelia versus Jay in the DO, would there have been the same level of outcry for the judges saving him over her?

If Jay had been saved having danced nothing remotely resembling what he was supposed to dance yes I'd hope there would be.

Arguably Daniel was a better dancer than Kirsty overall but it would have been pretty poor to save him ahead of her following his dance off performance.

He was below her on the leaderboard, he didn't dance the 2nd time any better than the first. It's not about hating Peter Andre, I don't like him though, it's about who was better in the DO. Any of the others, Katie, Helen, Jay, Georgia, Kellie and Anita were better than Jamelia on Saturday night so there would have been no outcry if they'd have been saved, just like there has been no outcry at any of the other dance off decisions.

I presume that many people didn't vote for Jamelia because they voted for their favourites, but I suspect most of them wouldn't have voted for Peter either.

Just because they didn't vote for Jamelia It doesn't mean that they don't have the right to be indignant at seeing such an injustice.

Jamelia got to a point when she started to improve, which actually used to be a point of this show. I think it should be encouraged not penalised even if it means to let a person with better PR go.

The judges took the opportunity to flush a terminally unpopular contestant. It is not the first time the dance-off has been used for such an occasion. Whichever bright spark decided they absolutely had to make sure Peter got a standing ovation for his dance-off shot themselves in the foot a bit but this will be old news before too long.

I voted for her each week, but even if I hadn't I think I would have had the right to point out a bit of dubious dance off judging by the judges don't you?

oh they will see it.. Now I like Peter Andre a lot. always have and wished him luck.. Ive never took to Jamelia on Loose Women or anywhere else but have to admit her quickstep was well ahead of what Peter did last night... the voting was very unfair, and I dont care if they say their the professionals and notice all the steps.. were not blind... Sorry Peter but you werent up for it at all on this dance, but good luck for future dances on there and hopefully fairer judges or new judges...

Well, I have been a massive fan of Peter's in this year's show but even I could see that Jamelia's dance was better, even in the dance-off, where Peter did improve a little with his kicks and flicks but the rest of the dance was still flat. Jamelia's dances were both lovely to watch and I think they got it wrong, not that I am an expert, but there you go. I do think Peter will get back on track in other dances though, I just think the jive wasn't his dance, unfortunately.

I would have easily have saved Jamelia and Tristan, I'm absolutely incredulous, this is the most RIDICULOUS result I've ever seen in the dance off.

Darcey Bussell is on BBC Breakfast now if anyone's interested.

I suspect the judges applied the same logic both weeks. Although, when it came to the dance off last week, Jamelia was pretty awful and didn't seem to make much of en effort, Jeremy had been the weaker dancer throughout the series, so he went. This week, Jamelia was the overall weaker dancer throughout the series, so despite her efforts in the dance off she got booted.
Neither decision was 'fair' if you believe that the winner should come down entirely to who performed best in the dance off and nothing else should count. Both, IMO, were the right decision for the show as they got rid of the weaker dancer, but I understand why others disagree.
If it always came down purely to who performed the best dance off, Jamelia shouldn't even have been in Blackpool and we'd have had Jeremy, not Craig, making an entrance on the giant guitar prop. I wonder who'd have been the most deserving winner in a Peter/Jeremy dance off?

Though Jamelia was royally robbed yesterday, you raise an excellent point broton...and to answer your quote above - never in a ZILLION years. I have asked similar questions in the past, examples being:

Would THAT Jive have been as positively received on DS if danced to the same standard by Peter & Aliona?

and

Would THAT Charleston have been cited as "the most overmarked and overrated" dance of the series" by DS if performed to the same standard by Jay and Janette?

Going back to your question, broken down, it is clear that VERY different criteria would be used by DS fans in each case: Compare and contrast.

Jamelia vs Peter

1) Yes, Jamelia danced better in the DO AND

2) I have never been able to stand "P'duh" anyway and didn't even want him to compete on my favourite show in the first place. Therefore I want to see him leave asap in any way, shape or form - fair means or foul.
3) I know he has been the better dancer of the two throughout the competition but the DO should be based on THAT dance and that dance alone.
4) Plus, he's been overmarked every week so he should have gone on that basis to start with.
5) He hasn't danced a single decent dance since the entire competition started and should count himself lucky that he lasted this long.
6) He's had the pimp slot more than anyone else
7) Janette is the worst choreographer on the show.

Jamelia vs Jay

1) Yes, Jamelia danced better in the DO BUT

2) I can't stand Jamelia's bolshie, arrogant ways as displayed on Loose Women and that Bear Grylls programme. Jay, on the other hand, is every sorts of adorable - and the fact that he can't hide his obvious nerves just endears me to him even more. He must get to the Final - it will be like shooting a puppy if he is kicked out before then.
3) He has been the far superior dancer of the two throughout the competition and just had a bad night, which can happen to the best of us. I know the DO should be based on THAT dance and that dance alone but his natural talent and ability should not be scoffed at and really needs to be taken into account as the competition will be much poorer without him.
4) He has been undermarked every week so the judges should use this particular DO as some kind of 'redemption arc' by favouring him over Jamelia - despite the fact that she upped her game ten-fold to produce a far superior routine in the DO.
5) He danced THAT jive - aka the 'best dance in Strictly history'. Why should the clod-hopping so-called "Queen of the Dance Offs" go through over him? She should count herself lucky that she got through so many. If it were up to me, she would have been gone weeks ago.
6) Jay should have had the pimp slot more often - for no other reason other than he just should have.
7) Aliona is a wonderful (if not the BEST) female choreographer on the show and no other pro should tread the very ground she dances on. Tristan's routines, in comparison, were boring and lazy. He and Jamelia had run their course anyway and it was their time to go.

So there you have it - a snapshot of the "fair and balanced" viewpoints often seen on our beloved DS Strictly forum....

Jamelia and Tristan should have stayed - at least Jamelia was actually dancing which is more than can be said of Peter. He appeared to leave all the dancing to Janette and the backing dancers while he just walked around the dance floor.

Jamelia and Tristan should have been saved of course, no contest. It doesn't matter about so-called 'potential' - Jamelia could have been in the dance off next week for all we know. But the fact is she danced better on the night, both times, and the dance off is meant to be judged on its own merit- the outcome not determined by previous dances.
Ps some of the posts on here made funny!”

That you believe what you wrote is funnier. Dances judged on merit haha...

Based on the peformance in the Dance Off itself, then Jamelia & Tristan should have been saved.

If the judges' are changing their minds and going on overall performance throughout the competition and a contestant's potential, then they might have an argument for saving Peter & Janette.

Not really, Jamelia so obviously danced much better than Peter in the DO. But it would seem that they aren't even giving their real opinions anyway.

If it was a close dance off then I would have been okay with the decision but it was sooooo obvious that Jamelia was better in the dance off it looks like a fix.

All my friends who are into strictly were saying that the dance off was fixed as well.
