Strictly Come Dancing will see its first ever Quickstepathon next weekend
All seven couples will take to the dancefloor with their pro partners at the same time, performing the Quickstep around the ballroom as the judges eliminate them one by one.

I do like the QS but I hope the floor is big enough to have them all racing around

Another tool for blatant manipulation on the part of the judges.

Can't put my finger on why, but I have a feeling that P&J will do very well in the QS-a-thon

It would have been a much better idea to do it with the space of Blackpool, for complete beginners, this is quite a hard dance to move around with others.

I think it will be hardest for Jay and Peter who will have to manoeuvre their partners around at the same time as concentrating on their footwork.

What each celeb got for their quickstep
Peter: 30 - week 3
Georgia: 31 - week 4
Jay: 25 - week 4 (though given the mistakes, it's not really an accurate representation of his ability at the dance).
Helen : 35 - week 5 (loved this dance)
Katie: 26 - week 7
Anita: 32 - week 8
Kellie: 37 - week 9

This is the BBC producers you're talking about...

I think Helen, Kellie and Jay will be fighting it out for the top spot.

Anita and Peter will be at the bottom, Peter probably last as it'll be painfully evident against all the pro guys and Jay, who leads Aliona like a pro, that he won't be properly leading Janette.

If they stick to a basic Quickstep then everything should be fine, even with 7 couples on the floor. Let's hope the pros see sense!!

Why do I have a feeling that Gleb isn't going to necessarily be content with performing the old 'basic quickstep'!

The female celebrities have a slight advantage here imo because the male pros will be able to guide them expertly on that dancefloor. However, Peter and Jay may struggle a bit since it's so much more difficult for the male celebrity to lead. With that being said, I expect Jay to do reasonably well.

I give you the carnage of the Viennese waltzathon from series 7.... (watch out for Brian Fortuna).

And that's supposed to go smoothly clockwise - Quickstep has many more steps that go down the middle of the dancefloor or otherwise not on a smooth rotation, so it's likely to be even more carnage.

I expect Gleb v Anton v Aljaz will be rather competitive - is it Aljaz who has height advantage?

Yes, for Jay and Peter it will be so much harder. Also the speed of the quickstep means it is so hard to lead out of a trapped area and Jay is prone to tripping too.

I feel the choice of the QS is not so fair on Jay and Peter, at least with waltz you have time to think about your next destination, maybe throw in some slow and controlled throwaway's too.
Things like jive and swing put it more on a neutral ground and is so easy to communicate what next to each other for the celebs.

I expect Helen, Kellie and Katie to be the top three in this one.

Not only do the male celebs have to lead their partners around the floor while remembering steps, the females just have to hold on and have the possible added bonus of their dresses masking dodgy footwork!

I can't wait

I can't find a height for Aljaz. Gleb's 6'1" and Anton's 6'0". I don't think Aljaz is any taller than them.

Anti clockwise.

But agreed.

There is no way that the QSathon will be less carnage than the other one.

I ...... CAN'T ..... WAIT !!!!!!!!!

QS is my least favourite ballroom dance, so my nose is a bit put out of joint tbh.

It'll let the judges rejig the leaderboard to their liking somewhat but there aren't many couples left now, the public vote is a bit more powerful in later weeks (ignoring anomalies like Tomgate). Expecting a strong showing from Helen and Aljaz.

It's my favourite ballroom dance so I'm a bit put out by the thought of the carnage!

Though no doubt it will be hilarious!

I don't think these dances thins make for great TV- I loved the year they did the Dance Fusion- it was much more creative and fab to watch. These danceathons are open to manipulation etc. Even if the judges score fairly next Sat it will be hard to guage if they have been fair as it is such a mess usually. The cameraman usually feature some contestants more than others
. I hope it does not cause more controversy and that we have fair scores, camerawork, promotion, outfits etc from now on.

After "danceoffgate" will the judges really have the nerve to vote Andre off first?
(Even if he's trotty like his last QS?)
To validate their decision this Saturday they will need him to be in with the "contenders"

Or do you mean he'll win the QSathon? I
