I have noted this day in my diary as the day that the BBC finally joined the X Factor and Big Brother by manipulating results as the most obvious Dance Off farce of all time. Last year they dabbled at this with Pixie Lott, but yesterday it so blatant it was embarrassing to watch.
The producers of the single most popular show on British TV should be held in contempt.
Will last nights episode affect viewing figures, yes I believe it will

Last year Pixie lost in the DO to a dancer whom many perceived to be worse than her (subjective) after he clearly outperformed her in the DO.

This year, Jamelia lost to a dancer who has generally ouperformed her after she clearly outperformed him in the DO.

At stake for Pixie and Simon... a place in the final weeks
At stake for Jam and Peter... leaving this week or next week, probably

In common: forum outcry

Will it affect viewing figures? You betcha. Controversy draws attention.

Don't you think you might be a little overly dramatic?

Being a little pedantic, 22/11 was the day President Kennedy died.

Oh who cares, its only a dance competition. The decision has been made and personally I think the better dancer overall has gone through to next week. You'll soon get over it and find something else to think about!

Thanks for reminding me of that. It was the same day in 1963 that I saw the Beatles live in Stockton, only to hear of the Presidents killing after the concert

It's a matter of trust, really. I agree with the point that in the greater scheme of things it matters not a jot, but if the BBC cares so little about it's integrity why should we trust them to broadcast to the public objectively. What else might they manipulate.

Apparently in the last election, Tory campaigners were issuing threats to journalists about the BBC license fee in an attempt to affect their media coverage

I can't think where to post this pic. Oti doesn't have an App thread that I can find... I confess I was trying to discover if Jeremy Vine who was in the audience had any response to the scenes he witnessed. He hasn't tweeted about it. But he has got this absolutely wonderful picture of Oti.

Very very off topic but beautiful

It was the day from which I will stop thinking the judges are idiots/biased when they produce ridiculous scores/decisions and simply assume the producers have ordered them to arrange a given result. And that the so-called judges are prepared to go along with this fakery for the sake of their pay packets and the fame.

There's a word, or indeed several words, for people like that.

And it saddens me, as I thought the art of dance meant more to Darcy, at least, than that.

Comparing the death of Buddy Holly to Peter being saved in Strictly? Maybe a little...

Was the forum as bad as this (in terms of outcry regarding the DO) last year when Pixie left?

Or the public. She could have avoided the bottom two if she had had more votes.

Last year was a total farce Pixie was a real contender, for me the best dancer, this year neither Jamelia or Andre had any chance, although Jamelia has improved Andre still stomps his way through each dance, but the judges just looked so ashamed at what they had done, and so they should be.

The thing is I don't agree that he's outperformed her at all.

They both had a wow Charleston (I personally thought Jamelias was better) and a decent Cha Cha Cha they were both not very good at ballroom. His scores may reflect him as doing better overall but I didn't see that myself.

It's not like we're talking Helen vs Kirsty or anything? They were in the same league and she was better on the night.

I don't really care what their criteria is but they can't change it when it suits them. They defended their decision on Pixie saying they HAVE To judge on what they see in the d/o.

That's true of every dancer who ends up in the dance off. The public vote for their favourite but don't have to justify their voting choice - that's why Jeremy didn't appear in the DO for so many weeks. The viewing public understands how the public vote works.

In the dance off however, the judges vote to save the dancer who danced best in the dance off ( or so I thought ). So, notwithstanding the reason each dancer ends up there, surely they should have the reasonable expectation of being judged on their dancing in the dance off itself, otherwise their is no point in holding the dance off at all. This week-end all and sundry could see that Jamelia and Peter were not judged on their dance off dances.

I remember there were quite a few threads but it was mostly her fans who were upset. She didn't dance as well as Simon in the DO so it was the right decision and most people realised that.

There was a lot of complaining that it was a fix because she wasn't doing the tour.

No, because she wasn't as almost-universally hated on here as Peter seems to be. She had a significant fanbase on here, but there were plenty who thought the decision to send her home was correct (I for one thought Simon was miles better in that dance-off!).

This year was a different decision, but it wasn't Peter and Janette's fault that they were chosen, so the melodrama and anger directed at them is equally misplaced.
