So, how long does the show *actually* take these days?

For whatever reason, they still persist in saying that each task is a week. But surely the candidates can't afford money- or time-wise to just put their lives on hold for 10 or so weeks total, especially if each task only takes up one or two days out of that 'week'.

Wasn't it the case in series 1 that all the tasks were actually taken back to back? Is that still the case? We've seen they have days off here and there because we've seen them relaxing, but does anyone know exactly how it's done these days?

I mean for me, that's something to keep in mind when the candidates are getting snappy with each other - they've just finished a stressful task practically the day before, not a week before as the edit would suggest.

Some will take longer than others, when they did the usa thing there probably would be 2-3 days worth just of travel time and the same with the Manchester task would probably have a days worth of traveling time, but some of the tasks where you just race around London buying stuff off the list could be done in a day 9-5 race around 6+ doing the spoon of doom/winners videos along with the firing and LS is back at home for his evening cocoa by 11pm

Never mind the candidates: it is surely Karren's and Claude's time that is most valuable.

I remember reading a while back that they film two tasks each week virtually back to back, so they would be away from home for 4-5 weeks in total. The article also said that they get at least one weekend at home during the process, but otherwise they only get a day or so between each task.

Do they?

I thought every programme was preceded by the words "Last time......" before the outcome of the previous task was shown, and ends with the words "Next time....." before showing us a preview of the following task.

Nothing about "Last Week" or "Next Week" is anywhere in there. The programmes might be shown weekly, but nothing is actually said during the filming of it to indicate that only one task per week is undertaken. That's why when more than one task is shown a week (normally the first week of a new series has two episodes in two days) it doesn't get out of sync, and again, nowhere in either of the first two tasks are the words "Yesterday..." or "Tomorrow...." used.

The script at the start of each episode says "week ___" e.g. "Week Seven" or "Week Five". It's white text on a black screen and it plays at the start of each episode.

Think that's more because we view them on a weekly basis rather than the contestants having supposed to have been in the process for that many weeks.

Lord Sid often used to say stuff like 'last week you...' but it seems to have eased off in recent series.

A few years ago, one of the contestants said that tasks take 3 days each to film, they film 2 tasks per week, and they have Sundays off... most go home to their families, though they were allowed to stay in the house if they wished.
