Bought a cadbury fruit n nut bar last night and just opened it up, bloody hell it's only half the chunky size of chocolate now like a thin biscuit and still £1. what a rip off for what you get now

There has been a huge increase in the price of cocoa the last year which will probably explain a lot of the increase.

Customers don't respond as badly to products shrinking as they do to prices increasing.

With the cost of commodities going up, manufacturers only have a few choices. For food products it tends to be shrink the size/reduce the quantity etc or increase the price.

If your costs are going up you can't keep selling at the same price to the customer without eventually affecting your profit. Businesses are in business to make their shareholders or owners money ultimately.

Are you talking about the 120g one or the small one?

The size slash happened 3 years ago, with just 20g being taken away. I'd rather that than a price increase to be honest. On the bright side, that's less granulated sugar, trans fat, and calories consumed if you decide to indulge in one of these things.

These go for a £1 in most shops, for a big slab of chocolate, which is a bargain to be honest. Higher end chocolate is far more expensive and smaller, such as the Lindt 100g bar which is nearly double the price.

I may admit I don't eat all that much Cadbury chocolate now. I find it can be very sweet and sickly, could coincidence that it's been taken over by an American company and a huge majority of American chocolate is the same in sweet and sickly....? I personally have been enjoying chocolate from Aldi, Hotel Chocolat and M&S recently. I think I will carry this on, especially the Aldi chocolate as I've really enjoyed that

In the short-term reducing the pack size is likely to be less harming to market share.

But I think it opens the door to competitors over the longer term grabbing a chunk of your customers.

Also, do they need to be in quotes, like "'Cadbury'...if that is Indeed your real name.."

I still eat Cadbury's choccie - but there is something different about it these days. Its not as tasty. I still devour it though !!!

I bought a bar of AERO chocolate the other day, a family sized bar .... and I ate it by myself with no effort at all in about 1/2hr. There was no chocolate in it.
