I absolutely loved Jamelia on last nights ITT. Kudos to the girl for speaking out and letting people know that Peter's "standing ovation" was re-recorded.

Yes, very telling that Zoe quickly moved on without even questioning what was said ..... and when Zoe reacted to Karen Hardy suddenly standing up (prior to the birthday announcement)

I think someone got the dance off description out and it doesn't actually say anything about them having to judge it on the dance-off dance, and honestly, very rarely do they seem judge it on that.

Only when there is an exceptional dance (like Simon's vs Pixie) - most of the time the DO is used for them to get out inferior dancers overall and, after 5 dance-offs, getting rid of Jamelia was a no brainer. Just a shame that she couldn't have gone out with a wee bit grace and decided to throw her toys out the pram instead.

Still, it's stopped round 26449 of Jay & Aliona, are they or aren't they? In the tabs so for that we all should be grateful for Ovationgate & the Peter witch hunt. ”

Yes I think you have it in a nutshell there. The selection criteria in the dance off are pretty opaque. In the past the person saved has been saved for various articlated reasons. The judges have saved them on the grounds of :-

* Improvement between the dance off performance and the performance in the main show.
* Better performance in the Dance off compared to the other contestant
* Better improvement overall throughout the series
* Better body of work overall through the series
* Better potential for future performances - which is the weird one for me
* No particualr reason given.

However its not a real competition. Its a pantomine entertainment show in which 'contestants' are paid to take part. So it really doesn't matter, providing the two in the dance off genunely reflect the public vote.

Following Jamelia around the depths of daytime TV is pure spun gold this week. She's still absolutely adamant that the reason for the staged standing ovation was that first time around- there wasn't one.

This dance off was always going to be a bit controversial as it has two of the most contentious contestants involved. On the one hand there is Captain Cheese, dripping insincerity, overmarked and over praised, doing it for his kids and going on and on and on about how very 'umble he is. On the other hand we have the queen bitch of Loose Women who hates fat people and is, to some, like a Brummie Katie Hopkins.

Had Jamelia been saved, I'm sure there would have been a similar backlash - but one based on her previous dance off appearances and her personality. I think she has actually done herself a lot of good appearing on the show as she has come across as a gracious loser, we know she's human as she was upset at repeatedly ending up in the bottom two (imagine if it WAS Katie Hopkins, you'd get no emotion there) and her dancing definitely improved. Peter, on the other hand, is alienating people with his crawling to the judges, his constant "Can I just say" and his dreadful technique that shows no sign of improvement.

I can't bear to watch any more while Peter Andre is on the show as he makes me irrationally angry. But I think I'd reached that stage anyway, his unfair survival from the dance off hasn't affected my decision. I don't see why people think Jamelia has shown herself in a bad light though, she said what needed to be said.

She has gained a hell of a lot of fans on twitter since Ovationgate!

I'm gobsmacked that people here are actually defending what happened last weekend.

There is a HUGE difference between giving people prominent slots, and actually instructing members of the audience to give someone a standing ovation to give the impression they enjoyed a performance. Likewise this is totally different from re-doing bits of footage to get a different crowd angle.

I think the comments from people who were actually there make it clear this is NOT something that always happens, it is a new low for the programme.

It won't last, she'll come out with more of her usual ignorant guff before long.

Oh I never said it would last but at least if you're going to get booted out after being in all those DOs, she's gone out more popular than when she was in it. Go figure.

People aren't stupid, they could see for themselves the DO on Saturday was not based on which contestant performed the best dance. A stupid bit of manipulation that could result in a very popular show losing its sparkle. Anyone else think Darcy looked a bit embarrassed when Peter was saved? If I was PA I would feel rather uncomfortable remaining in the show under such circumstances. Good on Jamelia for speaking out.

They left out Jamelia's air quotes around the "standing ovation", I think that part is essential.

Last night on ITT I though Jamelia managed to get her point across without sounding bitter or making a fuss, she just in a round-a-bout way let everyone know she thought it was a fix, Good on the girl for keeping her cool

I suspect it is because they are not fans of Peter.

I suspect it's because they're not fans of being manipulated and duped. We get enough of that from our politicians in our everyday lives, we don't want it when we turn to the telly for a bit of escapism as well.

Strictly has been doing it for years now but most people have chosen to ignore it. People have taken against Peter for some reason and are even blaming him for what happened.

Yeah, I agree completely.

The fault this week wasn't saving Peter, the fault was not clarifying that they were saving him because of his past performances and/or Jamelia's dance off run.

Ok, she's a bit of a mardy pants. So what?
She also speaks up for herself and doesn't take any sh*t, as demonstrated yesterday on ITT.
It's a shame it's only Jamelia who's speaking out, though, because it's making it look like it's just sour grapes when it isn't.

The problem was that with Peters over marking, on paper he looks like he is a much better dancer than Jamelia, when in fact looking at their dances together - there is less of a gap between them than the scores suggest.

He up until Blackpool was marginally better than she was - but at Blackpool she smashed it (both in the main show and in the dance off).

Had she been up against anyone else, she may well have survived, and if only we could see the voting percentages, she may well have come within a whisker of escaping the DO this week as I and a lot of others threw a couple of votes her way this week.

What this week showed is that the smoke and mirrors around Peter has been shown for what it is - he's been protected from the lack of public support because of the over marking and come this weekend he's got a nasty shock coming as he will be quick stepping with all the others who are much much better than him (mistakes in their original quick steps apart ALL of the others are lighter on their feet, have better posture, and have a grasp of the technique needed, as well as pro dancers who are not only good ballroom dancers but also better teachers than Janette seems to be. His shortcomings will be all too obvious to see, especially as the likes of Katie and Jay have something to prove following their cock ups in their original dances.
