I did - I thought she was a gigantic plonker - but I have warmed to her a tiny bit since she's been on strictly - and I admire her for speaking out about the dance off -

“Jamelia stands by Strictly fix comments admitting she had 'signed up for an entertainment show'

Jamelia has spoken about her elimination from Strictly Come Dancing saying she knew exactly what she signed up for.

The Loose Women presenter returned to the panel and stood by her comments claiming the show was fixed for Peter Andre to stay in the competition.”

She really is a horrible woman, does she really thinks she is doing Peter any favours with her horrible insinuations. I have totally gone off her and I gave her a chance when she entered the show, how wrong I was.

But it's not a total conspiracy, is it ? The part about doing a retake, and the floor manager asking a section of the audience to get on their feet and applaud enthusiastically was mentioned in the spoiler thread before it became public knowledge.
Our mole on DS thought it was strange, but we don't know if it's something that occurs regularly on the show. But there must be lots of DS members who have attended live shows, perhaps they could enlighten us ?

I don't think Jamelia was being unsporting. If its not common practice to retake the the audience reaction to a performance, with the apparent aim of making it appear better than it was, I'd have been suspicious too.

Jamelia was hardly Miss Popular on here or on twitter, before Ovationgate. Hence her being in the DO several times.

Main comments on twitter are that people expect this sort of thing on X Factor but are disappointment it has happened on Strictly.

I've seen quite a few posts over the years that has said it does happen. In fact I'm sure someone on either this thread or one of the other threads of s similar ilk mentioned how when they went that they were effective applauding and cheering fresh air at one stage so they could get a good shot of the audience clapping to cut in.

Absolutely, there is far too much crap in the world. I want to be able to turn on my TV on a Saturday night and escape all the manipulation, cynicism and cruelty in the world for a couple of hours and just be part of a sparkly little bubble. It seems even that is not permitted.

Re: comments saying the manipulation is nothing new - what evidence do you have that the audience has been told to make it look as though they enjoyed a crap dance to justify keeping that dancer in the show before? Hmmm...

I went to a live show. Abbey Clancey's year. You are encouraged to cheer a lot, and to stand up if you really like a dance. and yes, things are filmed out of order and obviously edited for the 'Sunday' show. But there was no 'can you please do a SO for this dance as there wasn't one, so we can shoe horn it in and hope no-one notices'.

Here's an example.

In the year that Emma Bunton had made a CD for charity and was going to be singing it on Children in Need. You'd think she was "Mother Teresa," the way only positive training footage was included on ITT. In my opinion, the producers were doing their best to keep her in.

Tv is a medium where perceptions can if required, be subtly manipulated, by the choice of content. This might go over the heads of a few.

Then watching TV is the last thing you should be doing.

Yes, I've been to a few comedy shows and they do the same thing..film audience reaction shots separately. Often what you see isn't exactly what happened on the night even when they say it's been "filmed in front of a live audience".
But, as you say, I'm surprised the BBC would do that for a dance-off (which is still a competition with public voting encouraged) in their flagship show with 10+ million viewers.

But they didn't try to create the illusion that a studio audience liked her did they??

Well, to paraphrase the immortal words of Mandy Rice-Davies.."They would say that, wouldn't they ? "

I'm not a fan of either Peter or Jamelia. But I do like fairness which is what bothers me about the weekend's events.

I am pleased Jamelia spoke her mind and don't think it reflects badly on Peter at all. He tried his best just like she did.

It does reflect badly on the producers of SCD however.

If you read what she said she hasn't been nasty at all. Just saying what happened. I think she's allowed to do that

I don't think she's ever spoken more eloquently.

Like her even more now.

People surely can't say she's a sore loser after that?

Whilst I agree Jamelia danced better in the DO, I think she could at least have waited until the shows have all finished before making her accusations. She has now left a very awkward atmosphere amongst the people she calls her "fabulous friends" who still have to compete and, although she said she did not blame Pete, she has made it difficult for both him and Janette. She could have waited till it was over.

I'm not a Peter fan by any means, have never voted for him and there are much better dancers still in, but it's not his fault. She said she didn't want Pete to get the backlash but of course he will - what else did she expect?

So do I.
Others find it difficult to cope.

I think the comments from people who were actually there make it clear this is NOT something that always happens, it is a new low for the programme.”

jesus christ...
