iD Mobile: Black Friday Half Price Sim-Only
http://www.idmobile.co.uk/shop/plans/sim-only
If you take out a sim-only contract with iD mobile (1 month rolling contracts included) you will get it for half price for 12 months at the moment. Not sure when the offer ends but it's seriously worth taking a look at. For example, you can get 250 mins, 5000 texts and 1GB of data for £5 per month or step it up to 2GB of data for £7.50. These are some of the best sim-only deals I've ever seen, and it's 4G data too. 1GB of data on most other networks is gonna be at least £10pm. Just putting this out there so nobody misses a deal! (iD Mobile runs on the Three network). |

Interested. I'm on Three at the moment, on an AYCE deal @ £13pm. I barely use 1gb data, so the AYCE deal is unnecessary and 2/4gb will be enough. Curious - on iD, they've 29 countries that you can roam in. Below..
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and USA. But Three only have 16 countries and notably, Germany (where I travel on business / vacation), is missing from their list. If iD run on Three, why the difference? Anyone know? I'll probably just give them a call.... |

Yeah. I can see there are different options and the roaming ones cost more and / or offer less data or mins. I guess my AYCE monthly fee is still pretty decent with Three and gives me roaming thrown in. Just shame about lack of German roaming. The current AYCE Three tariffs do look more expensive than when I took my deal out. May be worth hanging onto...

Although you can't tether, can you use an iD mobile SIM in a dongle?

If you mean the Sim only deal, no not when I tried. You can however get an ID Mobile Data sim.

Does this half price offer apply to Data sim plans or only for sim only plans for phones?
Sim only sadly, the Data sims don't seem to be any different than normal. I was hoping for either the existing 20GB doubled to 40GB for £20 / month or some other tariff above 20GB becoming available but no such luck!.

What are the difference between the types of plans? Are they all 4G? Don't understand difference between shockproof and go to.

Yes they are all 4G, at least where 4G is available from 3UKGOTO - Their standard plans, once your monthly allowance is used up, any additional calls / texts / data used outside the allowance becomes chargeable at the applicable rates, however on this tariff there is no upper cap on the charges that you can run up. SHOCK PROOF - As above, but the SIM is capped which means once your monthly allowance is used up, then any calls etc outside the limit still become chargeable, however any extra charges are capped at a maximum of £5, after which it stops working. TAKE AWAY - This is their version of Three's "Feel like home". These are the plans which have Free roaming from your usual monthly allowance to Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and USA. |

Does iD Mobile still treat roaming data the same way as Three? In other words, feeding it all back via the UK and restricting certain services (or speed capping to such an extreme level, it's essentially the same thing)?
