I have a Foxsat HDR which is failing to complete the Freesat Tuning.

Every time I switched on, the system went straight to the Freesat Tune window, then after a couple of seconds, crashed, rebooted & went back into the same loop. The only way to come out of the loop was to respond NO to re-tuning.

I then carried out a factory reset as advised by Humax Support but the same problem exists & I now don't have any Freesat channels at all & can only use the PVR in non-freesat mode, but can still play recordings made before the problem occured

Unfortunately, the PVR is around 8 years old so it is out of warranty. Any thoughts which may get my Freesat channels back & the ability to use the EPG to record programmes would be gratefully appreciated

A geographical location would help.

The freesat home transponder required to complete a freesat re-tune is now on UK spot beam. As a result much stronger in the UK in the primary footprint, and now in the more Southerly and Easterly areas of Europe are no longer able to get (without possibly a larger dish).

Can you actually still view all the available channels in non-freesat mode ?

Thanks Graham
The non-freesat mode channels are fine but if it's relevant, I live north of Derby DE7

FYI I am also running an HDR 1010S off the same dish without any problems so I suspect that it may not be a signal issue, unless the 1010S is more up to date than the old Foxsat.

I am using the old Foxsat mainly to watch recordings but as the 1010S does not have the facility to download recorded programmes my supply of recordings is running down. I appreciate that there is unofficial software around to network devices but every time I try to understand postings on the subject, my health suffers ie I lose the will to live

Try connecting the Foxsat to the cables currently being used by the 1010s. Check the f connectors on the cables used by the Foxsat are firmly screwed on to the coax cables.

Check carefully for any sign of moisture in the cables.

It's not difficult to install the CF on a Foxsat-hdr and it transforms the box.

I'm afraid that connecting to the 1010s box made no difference after connecting to LNB1 IN then trying again connecting to both LNB1 IN & LNB2 IN with both cables.
As for moisture, I couldn't find any evidence but it's quite difficult to check. To avoid this, I did make sure that the cable from the dish runs up the outside wall before entering the hole into the house.

I guess this confirms that the problem is inside the Foxsat-hdr box but not if it's a hardware or software fault.

Your comment "It's not difficult to install the CF on a Foxsat-hdr and it transforms the box" is perhaps suggesting that the next stage is to install the CF (whatever that is). If so, could you confirm this approach & point me to a url which explains what this is & how to upload it to a box which does not have internet connection.

Appreciate your help

The basic install is using a USB stick, but the rest is downloaded from the internet.

You say you can use manual tune to view channels, so the tuners must be OK.

Can you use manual tune to locate transponder 11427 H (might be 11428 H) and post signal strength and quality. Does a channel scan show up channel 999 ?

Have a read of this thread.

I already had 11428H in the list but added 11427H which records S: 100% & Q: 90% & after searching gave me 16 extra channels in non-freesat mode. None of them are labelled channel 999 although most have reference to freesat in the title text.

Went back to Freesat Tune, post code accepted OK but when then searching on 11427H same problem of crashing & reboot occurred. Tried to do Freesat tune in freesat & non-freesat modes but made no difference.
Took a while going through your thread on av forums which helped in the process of adding a new transponder but the other guy's issues seemed to mainly be around post codes acceptance??

When you add channels to Non-freesat mode the channel numbers are allocated starting at 5000. Depending on how many other channels you have scanned there is no way to predict the channel numbers they will get. The lcn (logical channel numbers) in freesat mode come from the epg not the channel data,

I in fact did just this test earlier today, and Freesat Info is present.
