Noel isn't really a stand up as such so was a strange choice to present the show.

I don't usually watch this show but last night the brilliant Stewart Francis was on & he was hilarious
(I'm excited about next Tuesday when we're going to see him live). The others on the show were pretty dire just like all so-called 'comedians' (apart from Stewart & Tim Vine).

![]() The only problem was I was laughing before he gave the punchlines. The guy next to me must have been confused

Has anyone been watching the current series?
I've especially liked Sam Simmons, Nathan Caton and Jack Carroll. |

I enjoyed all three comedians last night.
I really enjoy Joe Lycett's letter/email stories and that was no exception. I saw Ivo Graham on Mock the Week two months ago - this was way better. This was the first time I'd seen a full set from Phil Wang and I think he's got potential to be great too. |

Since the move to BBC2 they seem to have fewer household name comedians on and more up and coming newbies. Great opportunity for them to make their name I suppose.

Yes, I think it's good to give newer comedians their first major appearance but to be fair I think it was largely the same while it was on BBC1. A more well known comedian would host and introduce some newcomers. This series we've had an edition hosted by Frankie Boyle, with the acts being Holly Walsh (who's made many Mock the Week appearances) and Jack Carroll (who was runner up on Britain's Got Talent 2013 but has made a few minor appearances here and there since).
I couldn't help but notice that Joe Lycett last week opened with a very outdated story (Fox News on Birmingham) along with him in a sling, I don't think he made any appearances in the last few months where I saw him in the sling so why this time? A 45-minute Christmas special tonight. |

Romesh, Seann and Kerry were very funny (I'd never heard of her before.)
I recognised Seann's routine from the C4 Comedy Gala, it was funnier then as he went into more detail on sneaking away to eat bread, which was hilarious. I also like how they've found a lot of funny female comedians, Ellie Grant, Holly Walsh and Kerry Godliman tonight, there's an impression they don't exist but they've been very good this series. Most of the time I turn off during the last act as it's normally some pretentious, unfunny alternative comedian. Looked like it tonight so that's why I'm writing now! |

It'd be interesting to see how he actually went down with the audience. Nick Helm last series apparently went down really badly with the audience but they covered that up in the edit. |

I worked on a show many years ago, it was notable how many of the panelists we started with got less and less affordable as their fame increased, Sometimes their asking price reduced again I recall one agent phoned us up looking for a slot for their client after having told us a few years before that he wasn't interested in that kind of TV now

I presume the budget has been reduced and/or household comedians fees have gone up

The calibre of comedians (fame wise) they're getting has definitely reduced now it's on BBC2.

We saw Kerry Godliman live...she was brilliant and on stage for an hour! It was a good audience and she got better and better! How she does standup tours with young kids...very demanding.
I groaned when I heard Sean Walsh who usually leaps about screaming...he was VERY good. Romesh...irritating in every way. Spencer Jones...excellent, most original. |

So did I. I like Seann in small doses but I've never been a huge fan of his stand-up. I thought Kerry was OK, while I'm still undecided about Spencer Jones.
He was bloody awful

Loved Kerry's jokes about gastropubs serving food ougbic bin lids or bed pans as I work with a bloke who rants in about that every time we go for a pub lunch. If her gets his burger on a chopping board or chops in a bucket, he's off.
The final bloke I had to turn off. He was about as funny as piles |
