I'm finding that the alarms on my phone keep enabling and disabling for random days.

I have one alarm set for 7am, mon-fri and another alarm set for 11pm every day and almost every day one or the other of them will fail to go off and, when I look at my phone, I'll find that the alarms are now set to go off only on 2 or 3 random days of the week - only on tue, thu and sat for example.

I have a GS5 running kitkat and I'm noticing it.
My wife has a new(ish) HTC One M9 running Lollipop and she seems to be having problems too.
She relies on her alarms so I just installed another alarm app' which seems to be reliable but it did seem to be a similar problem.

I was chatting to somebody yesterday when they said they had a similar problem as well.
I looked at their GS4 and, sure enough, the alarms were just set to go off on a couple of random days of the week, rather than every day as they're supposed to.

I did a google search and it seems to be quite a common issue but I was just wondering if anybody here might have more information about it or know if there's any way to fix it without installing a separate alarm app'?

Samsung and HTC use their own alarm apps.

So its very odd they are both experiencing the same problem.

Personally, I haven't had a problem with either stock Android or the Samsung Galaxy S6 apps.

I learned to get an alarm clock.

Android once failed to get me up because I had a third party ROM installed and these tend to "about 95% work" - it turned out one part of the 5% of broken stuff was that occasionally the CPU sleepstate thing pushed it to a level of "I'm not waking up for anything" including alarm clocks.

Exactly these kinds of variables drove me back to iOS, where I kept turning the alarm off instead of snoozing it because in a groggy state their terrible alarm UI (aim for a tiny little target on the screen, DO NOT swipe or use the fingerprint reader) is just too complicated.

Give me a good old fashioned powered alarm with buttons and battery backup any day of the week (or at least Monday to Friday)

To be honest, that was what led me to wonder if it was something related to the OS rather than the app' itself.

Just checked the damn thing now and it's done it again!
Last night my alarm didn't go off to remind me to take the dog out at 11pm and I made a point of re-setting it for every day.
Just looked at my phone and Fri and Sat are now disabled again.
Baffling!

One thing that I am now trying is, rather than just re-enabling the disabled days, I've deleted the alarm completely and replaced it with a new one.
Maybe that'll stop it happening?


Also, meant to say, the alarm was always utterly reliable on my GS4 and it's been reliable on my GS5 for the last couple of months but it's suddenly started doing this in the last couple of weeks.
That was what made me wonder if some update or other was responsible.

I use my trusty old Symbian phone as my bedside alarm as my Windows phone has a habit of occasionally getting confused about whether audio should be routed to internal speaker, earphones or Bluetooth so cannot be trusted to sound.

Well, the Android tagline is Be together. Not the same.

Having an alarm sound at the same time each day for the iRegimented hordes, no?

Hold on - the bugginess of a third-party adaptation of the Android OS (that presumably you had actively chosen to install, despite knowing they only "95% work") drove you to a different OS? This is kind of like saying I bought a BMW, swapped the engine out for one someone had made in their garage at the weekend, and then it was shit so it drove me back to an Audi.
