But limited to the first 1000 sales. Hurry and buy them so I'm not tempted myself

I might have been tempted if you could upgrade the memory with an SD card and also have a battery you can swap, but if they don't do that on their next phone I will defiantly be looking elsewhere (will be checking out the others anyway as I usually do).

Unless you're sitting under the mast I wouldn't bother. I find the S6 has terrible cell and wifi antennae and struggles to pick up anything but the strongest signal.

Yes, but there comes a point where the phone is cheap enough to overlook that?

Is £299 that point? For me, yes, but I don't have 299 sitting around right now.....

Of course there maybe more offers to come tomorrow from other websites.....

That is a more serious concern however.

It seems to be a bit of a gamble to be honest - I've seen many people reporting the same problems I have, but as ever with these things there are plenty who think it's fine.

I previously had an HTC One, and the S6 invariably struggles to pick up 4G where the HTC did reliably, and suffers from much lower 3G pick up too. Measured via dB readings, so I'm not going by the incomparable signal strength meter.

If you're usually in strong signal areas it would probably be fine, but do thikn carefully if you live in or regularly visit fringe coverage areas.

Wow. Those results absolutely match my experience of the S6. It's the first time I've seen a degree of methodical testing, and very illuminating!

Samsung just don't seem to do good antennae in their phones. My Note 3 was so terrible I sold it, it just showed no service most of the time.

The S6 was a little better but not much, so I agree that it isn't the best phone for low coverage areas.

The antenna in the S6 is garbage, it's the reason I sold the phone. Couldn't get 4G in my house for more than a few seconds at a time compared to using an iPhone or a Nexus where I can get it all around my house.

The S6 truly has the worst antenna I've ever seen in a phone and it's a shame that nobody rates them in reviews. At the end of the day, a phone with a bad antenna is gonna give you a much worse experience when you try to use it out and about.

I'd take a punt on the G4, however it just looks so big!

This is so refreshing - perhaps I'm not going mad. I was beginning to think it was just me who was having problems, but it seems I must have been hanging around with Samsung fanboys who refused to accept there was a problem....

Something as basic as this would kill any deal stone dead for me. What is the use of a phone if it won't connect to the network?

Yes. Not absolutely sure if new customers have to buy a sim card and goodybag ( from £5) though. They are certainly unlocked though.

Looks as though they are out of stock anyway.

I hope at least one of them went to a reader of this forum

Must be a Samsung thing, when i had a Galaxy note 4(for 6 days) it could only get 1-2bars signal inside our house, my old iphone 6 and my new 6S can get 3 bars most of the time, and the internet is faster aswell on the iphones

I find it hilarious that this has always 'not a problem' for the worst historic signal losing culprits. History changes as do mantras.

If someone can link to current signal tests from Sweden, Denmark or wherever it would be great. Samsung may well be crap too, though it gets all the mantras, the negative ones that is.

And as far as I am concerned, the less metal in any phone the better. Im not the type to be into form into function.
And bigger bars in a way became a form as much as function. Are we all back to having bigger bars again?

It has lots of impressive words, just not really in the right order or having much meaning in the context of the thread

I'm more than a bit sceptical as to how the S6 signal compares relatively to other smartphones. I am also wondering as to which bands of signal it is best at.
As we know, good 4G may mean worse 3G, just like we get worse 2G on our 3G phones.

It is all a balancing act, crappy signal not stopping people buying stuff in the past, and am sure present too.

Go a few posts up and somebody posted a link to a comparison.

You presumably did read that and just felt like trolling anyway.

giffgaff was launched as a no-thrills, super-cheap network. No call centres, tv ads, paper advertising (it was word of mouth only) or shops to run. All those savings were poured into making call and data charges as low as possible... or at least, that's what I thought.

These past few years, the prices have been climbing and so has visible waste - TV ads, quality sim packs (they used to be very cheaply made) and money wasting deals such as this.

I think it is pretty clear that Giffgaff's days are numbered.
