Is Tess Daly the worst thing about Strictly Come Dancing ?

Imagine if you will a plank of wood with a dyed blonde wig stapled on who couldn't come up with anything unless it was on the Autocue.......well IMO that's Tess Daly. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of Claudia but she is 1000 times better than Tess. I think the best part of the show is the stunning girl next looking Aliona Vilani and I really hope she and jay win outright.
Tess is just abysmal and I seriously don't know how she got the job.

Yes she is the worst thing about it.

By a long way.

We stopped bothering a while ago, and it wasn't because of Tess. It was simply that we stopped giving a damn who won. It's still very popular though, so I'm sure Tess has nowt to worry about.

What I hate is how she looks into the camera whilst her co-host (or whoever else) is talking, and gurns away as if she's your best mate, making a 'hark at her' style of face. It was bad with Bruce but it's no better now.

Seen her described as 'dead behind the eyes' which sums it up.

I'd say dead from the hair follicles down.

In answer to OP: yes, she is.

I've watched Strictly from the first series and a more stilted presenter would be hard to imagine. Say what you like about Bruce (and he could certainly ramble), but he understood comedy delivery and timing. Heaven preserve us from Tess and her autocue jokes - I'm sure she just repeats the line and smiles, winningly, without understanding what was funny.

At least she isn't ogling the attractive male contestants and pros as much now - but what's the hand-holding about? I try to avoid her segments as much as possible.

Where does Claudia come into the mix, cos frankly it's almost agony watching the fringe and always has been.

The only good thing to be said about her is she married Vernon Kay so they're not inflicting themselves on some other poor bastards.

Any opportunity to reprint this by Charlie Brooker is always welcome:

Quote:
“Kay is a one-man walking blight-on-our-culture, a dog-haired Toby jug, a self-satisfied banality engine, a git, a twit, a **** and an oaf. He dribbles tedious, repeated references to down-home life back in Bolton, presumably to underline what a Phoenix Nights-style man of the people he is, although from where I'm sitting he looks and sounds more like an unjustly elevated simpleton than a likeable everyman. He shouldn't be on television - he should be sitting on a country stile wearing a peasant's smock and chewing on a hayseed, some time during the Dark Ages (and preferably at the height of the Black Death).”

I love Claudia. She's had the fringe trimmed.

....Exposing her mascara-ruined eyes. Is it tattooed on, like Michael Jackson's was do we think?

I hardly ever watch this show, but when I do, yes that's exactly what I noticed too.
It's like she's presenting to very small children.
"Did you see my co -presenter do a joke? Did you? Did you? It was very funny wasn't it?"
That's the sort of internal dialogue you imagine running through her head as her ventriloquist dummy head switches from looking directly at the camera to looking directly at her co-presenter, and back again to the camera.

Most of that quote could be applied to Brooker, I have never worked out what talent he is supposed to have.

I think Tess Daly does a good job of running Strictly Come Dancing live but she is an attractive blonde who does not have a Southern accent so can be expected to get moans on forums like here.

You're a kindred spirit. Nobody else I talk to notices these little nuances in TV shows, or life in general for that matter. Good old DS, a place for like minded weirdos!

Remind me again, now many award-winning dramas has Vernon Kay written?

I'm from the north and I can tell you, we all hate professional Northerners like her and that tit she's married to, just as much as southerners do.

Iv watched Strictly pretty much from the start and she has never annoyed me at all. She does what needs to be done, has the necessary warmth and positivity, looks nice and doesn't overwhelm the show. Nothing to dislike there and Iv never understood the dislike towards her.

No she isn't good at live television, as for coming from oop north, well I'm from oop north and I still can't stand her, and Claudia is worse.

She'll be a lot cheaper than "the old codger," who thought it was his show but could only, "irritate for England."

She can read the auto-cue and doesn't trip over the furniture, what more do you want?

Record the show as do I and fast forward through her contributions, they aren't important.

Going a bit OT

But isn't that exactly the case with our double headed news programs nowadays

Why does it take two ?

Did he? I'd never noticed that. And what on earth makes you think Bruce didn't read out autocue jokes??

Brucie was the worst thing to happen to Strictly. Seems after his departure from the show, his spirit lived on through Tess.

Claudia probably one of the best things to happen to Strictly.

I like Tess. She does what has to be done. Announces who is dancing and moves the judges along when they are commenting. I don't want someone making that bit all about them.

I also didn't know she was from the north. I thought she was from Derbyshire

Awful thread. Presenting live isn't easy as it seem IMO. Tess is by no means perfect and has her faults but she does a great job imo.
I dont know why she gets so much flack on this forum yes she is annoying sometimes but she seems lovely and does a competent job imo.

... and the way she effortlessly annoys people who don't seem to like anything very much seems another point in her favour.
