Did Tony have a valid reason for not co-operating on the task?

Lady C knows exactly what she is doing. I'm sure she was hoping against hope that the folks chosen to do the servant thing would refuse, because it has absolutely allowed her to go to town and manipulate the situation.

Before anyone thinks I'm a Tony fan, I'm not, the bloke seems like a muppet. In fact there's only a few people in there I'd give the time of day too. Kieron for one, Vicki too, after that, the options get a bit thinner.

Lady C is an unpleasant character. She should have no surprise at all that people don't feel like doing things for her when the consequences are not great. But she won't, because it doesn't fit her world view and internal narrative of being a victim.

Tony H is a golf-club bore who has brought nothing to the show. He should be driving a cab somewhere, not indulging his fantasy that he is somehow still a celebrity.

I was pointing out that you were wrong when you said that Tony refused to take part in a task that only benefited Lady C.

It also benefited Chris an Keiron , and the whole camp, indirectly, by saving the dingo dimes ( whether they agreed to it or not )

He has a valid reason in his own mind: he didn't want to lose his dignity. Everyone has a line they won't cross.

If he wanted to follow his heart, he had no choice but to rob the other camp mates.

Tasks are voluntary rather than compulsory

It was demeaning, and if it was me, I would've refused too.

People say that Tony is lazy, but I'm sure Tony put himself forward a couple of times at the start of the series - only to be told that the group would rather someone young and fit went instead, so he is up for helping out, but wants to keep his dignity intact, which is fair enough. They didn't sign up to take care of a pretentious hag, and I personally, would rather do one of the horrible eating trials, than spend an evening looking after that vile old woman.

Worse for me, was that Lady C said she had no intentions of even taking part in this task, but in she went, did the trial, and was lucky enough to get the night in the comfy bed. How convenient!

So you'll be fine about tonight's trial then, should Lady C choose not to 'volunteer' to do it ?

!”

BIB I hope his dignity is worth more to him than the respect of the viewer, because he's lost that (in the main).

He's old enough to know you can't please all the people, and some people will find fault no matter what you do. He's probably realised he isn't going to win, so he might as well do what he wants.

Perhaps he refused to do it on safety grounds, he might have been tempted to throw the food at Lady C............I would have

That said throwing a hissy fit over the washing up trial just because she was annoyed at being chosen (by Chris as well!) as one of the laziest in camp. She refused to do a task that actually benefitted the rest of the camp - by doing it alone, Yvette earned them 5 hammocks meaning that no one had to sleep on the ground, and IRC, Tony apologised to Lady C and even gave up his bed for her - she's the one who has held the grudge!

I think Tony would have done it for any of the other teams - but I think most of them in there have had enough of Lady C and her antics. Watching them that evening - not only did all the others back him up when he refused to go and serve - they reassured him when he seemed to be having second thoughts, and Duncan told the others that all of them had agreed with Tony (and Jorgie). I thought no the 9 losers were just happy to be having a pleasant and drama free evening.

I don't see why he is being singled out for being lazy either. He seems to do his allocated jobs without complaining, and with the best will in the world there really isn't an awful lot to do in camp once you've done your chores. There's no food to prep, nothing to read, no other entertainment.... All the others sit or lounge around most of the time too, and none of the campmates have complained about the others being lazy in the clips we have seen.”

Great post, especially the last paragraph. All I'm seeing is that Tony is a lazy slob but I don't get how anyone is forming this opinion based on 35 minutes of heavily edited footage. Ah but he hasn't done a trial, well maybe that's because no one is voting for him to do one.
I'm not a fan of his as such, I just think he's been unfairly treated on thread after thread with no real evidence to back up the "lazy slob" name.

and for Tony that line is work btw many people clean and chambermaid for a living and they must be admired for doing an actual job and not insulted by a lazy chubster with work issues.

I've sussed big Tony's plan regarding his fall out with lady c . He's currently in phase one of his dastardly plan of trying to alienate everyone from her as he sees her as the weakest physically and easier to execute phase two which is when he got everyone on board is to convince them to get her into the cooking pot to sate Tony's ever hungry gullet

Well aren't we forming our opinion of Lady C on only 35 mins of heavily edited footage 35 mins is all we have and if we're not allowed to form opinions on that then we might as well just leave the forum

He was humiliated at being asked to be a maid. Don't think it was anything to do with lady C. He's a chavanist and couldn't give a reason and Duncan was rude beyond belief.
They are arrogant pigs.
