Transparency - Lets have the voting numbers

Honesty and Transparency.
Let's have details of the weekly voting numbers.
Oh, and pack up this "last night" and "Saturday" and Sunday nonsense.

always puzzled me why the BBC do not do it - X Factor, Im A Celeb and Doi when it was on always reveal the figs week by week immediately after series finishes

I suspect voters for anyone other than Jay would just give up and save their money after seeing the figures

We've done this before.

The BBC won't publish the figures as the disparity between those who get the most votes and those who get the least, could cause the latter some embarrassment, if they got very few, when others were getting thousands each week. The situation might also discourage future contestants.

It'll also be deemed, "sensitive commercial information." i.e. They don't want people to know how many people actually vote, as they are probably fewer than some may think.

What would be gained, just lots more arguments like the way that the argument about Sunday's Dance Off has dragged on and on . You can also guarantee that someone will claim the figures have been altered!

I don't really care for voting figures. I would like to know who comes 2nd and 3rd though. I'm still really wanting to know who came 2nd out of Simon and Frankie seeing as Caroline was obviously going to win anyway.

If you are no longer happy with strictly after Len and the BBC have spoken the nobody or nothing will convince you. Give up. Watch it or don't watch it suit yourself.

Giving out the figures each week will have an adverse effect believe it or not. It would actually cause the public to vote differently trying to be strategic and probably lead to their favourite going out due to them voting a mid range contestant. It would also take away any 'speculation' about the judges having this info and ensure that viewers KNOW they have the info and leave them wide open to this criticism each and every week .

I've always thought that voting stats should be published, but don't think so any more than I did previously, after what kicked off last weekend. I'm confident that the public vote is all legit - after all if they wanted to keep Andre in, they'd have just fiddled it so he wasn't in the dance-off. Likewise if they'd wanted Jamelia out they'd have put Kellie or Georgia in there with her to be reasonably sure she'd be out-danced.

I've said both of these things before, but I'll say them again:

1. ITV only publish the voting statistics because they were caught ignoring the results of telephone votes and putting whoever they liked in the bottom two (or equivalent 'in danger') on shows like Soapstar Superstar, and now have to prove that everything's above board.
2. There is an independent company whose job it is to verify the phone vote. If the BBC were caught ignoring the results of the phone vote and doing what ITV did, then the independent company would simply blow the whistle.

I think sometimes they do not show them is the fact that there could be someone who could way out in front...and they do not want people to be put of by that.

I don't think anyone wants the voting figures themselves to impact on the voting for future weeks. We don't want people to stop voting because their celeb is too far ahead or too far behind. We don't want people to give up on their favorite couple if they are polling poorly, or start voting for a struggling couple that they only like a bit.

If one person vote tactically it's their decision. If many voters vote tactically then we'll start seeing some strange voting patterns.

Voting numbers.

No.

(1) SCD becomes a popularity contest.
(2) Celebrities will therefore not go on.
(3) You have changed it from a dancing show.
(4) brings in tactics and tactical voting.

Result show.

(1) we all know it's recorded.
(2) it gets ten million viewers.
(3) Can't go live against XF.
(4) it would sound strange any other way.

They changed X Factor, and it died.

Well at least tell us the total number of votes cast each week. Or would 24 be embarrassing?

Itv don't publish numbers - just percentages - so no one knows the exact number of votes. DOI was interesting as quite often the judges pets didn't always score highly with the public - and vice versa......

Not knowing the voting totals adds to the tension. It would be disappointing to many if each week it was published that x was way out front in the public vote. I would prefer if the voting details were published after the series has ended but I do not feel too strongly about this.

There are individuals on this board for whom 24 votes would be a quiet week...
