Humax 9200 replacement
I am thinking of replacing my Humax 9200 which is having trouble processing all the data being thrown at it these days resulting in delayed response to remote commands. Initially I was looking at the Freeview Play DMR-HWT150 but as I have catch-up functionality on my TV I could save myself some cash and go for the older DMR-HWT130 which as a bonus has a front panel display which I prefer. My question is simply is the DMR-HWT130 still working well or is it starting to suffer like my 9200?

Pros: Accurate and Series Recording works. HD and Internet enabled. Remotely programmable (not perfect but good enough) Cons: No search in EPG. EPG has buttons for ± 24 hours but only scrolls 30 mins at a time horizontally. Can't transfer programmes, but I use get_iplayer now. To connect to the home network I use powerline adapters as they are cheaper and more reliable than the Wi-Fi options. |

I bought the DMR-HWT130 to replace my 9200T for the reasons you gave. Overall I am happy with it. These are my main pros and cons for the Panasonic over Humax.

Lack of an EPG search function is a bit of an irritation especially as my Panasonic TV has it so come on Panasonic include it in your PVRs, arguably a more useful feature in a PVR. It's not even available on the new 150/250 Freeview Play models. I have a Wi-Fi to ethernet bridge if I want to connect the 130 to the net but as I said in my first post my TV does the catch-up service. I notice on the Panasonic support site that the latest software version available there is 1.30 but my machine has 1.31 installed, are Panasonic a bit slack with their support site or does someone know of another reason for my 1.31 version? |
